forefront of innovation in KBB – bringing you news, coverage and reviews of the latest products and services from across the marketplace every month. This industry is one that doesn’t stay still for too

long and, during the difficult year that was 2020, this continuous state of evolution proved even more valuable as we all adapted to what we call ‘the new normal’. Like many of you, we at BKU have spent much

Brand New Industry Views F

or almost two decades, Bathroom & Kitchen Update has been at the

adapt and change to better serve the KBB industry.

One of these changes that we are delighted to announce is a brand-new monthly section: Industry Views. We’ve recruited a panel of experts from across the market to be a part of this new feature, which will be invaluable to professionals and businesses. Each month, our experts will share their insights

on what they think is on the near horizon for the industry – whether that be new restrictions, legislation, trends or something they simply think could be worth looking out for.

We believe that this new feature will become

essential reading for any KBB retailer, giving you an insight into what may come over the next four to six weeks and helping you get ahead of the game and plan for the next chapter of your business. Our experts are more than happy to offer their

help across the various markets their expertise covers, and we at BKU would like to thank them for their tremendous input this month.

Take Care, Carly

Keep designs going

Time is of the essence when you’re putting a design together for a customer and designing in 3D as opposed to in 2D, offers many benefits, above and beyond the time savings. A 3D system enables designers to create room sets intuitively within a realistic environment and with no additional rendering required there are no delays in showcasing the design to your client. This is also what allows the designer to jump between 3D and immersive virtual reality at any stage of the design process without lengthy file conversions, image rendering or added user interaction, it’s time well spent we think.

That means that features such as anti-bacterial surfaces and sensor-controlled touchless controlled technology are likely to have much more selling power in 2021 and beyond. Anti-bacterial glazes on

sanitaryware, for example, not only make cleaning the bathroom a lot easier, but also leave nowhere for potentially harmful bacteria to build-up, while sensor- controlled flushing systems and taps encourage that all- important hand hygiene while also creating a streamlined and modern finish in the bathroom. Such features are not
