INDUSTRY UPDATE

Lakes goes above and beyond to achieve Carbon

Neutral Plus status Lakes has been awarded Carbon Neutral Plus certification for its UK operations in recognition of the company’s continued commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. Lakes was awarded the Carbon Footprint

Standard in March 2019, and since then, has reduced its carbon emissions even further, offsetting more CO2 emissions in 2019 than its UK operations generated. As well at its focus on UK and global environmental projects to offset its carbon emissions, Lakes has been working to be more resource responsible, and leads the industry in its commitment to reducing waste. Last year, Lakes introduced 100% recyclable packaging to remove approximately 2,000 kilometres of banding and nearly two million pieces of polystyrene a year from landfill. It also committed to 100% recycling all of its product waste (primarily glass and aluminium) and all recyclable site and office waste.

IDS supports Recycling Lives charity with flooring and worktop donations

IDS has organised the supply of flooring, worktops and splashbacks to help a charity that supports men experiencing homelessness create a brand-new kitchen. Recycling Lives operates a

residential facility in Preston which provides a stable and supportive environment for homeless men to develop skills and confidence. The charity wanted to install a high-quality kitchen that would form a hub for residents to cook and socialise. IDS supplied the charity with 15m2 of its Vali

Malmo luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring to provide a stylish and durable flooring solution that would perform well in the 10-bedroom complex. In conjunction with its long-standing worktop

partner, Bushboard, it was also able to provide Omega Natural Blocked Oak worktops and splashbacks for the communal kitchen area. Jewson Partnership Solutions provided the fixtures and fittings and Onward Homes installed the kitchen.

Showerwall introduces new trade brochure and training videos

Showerwall, the bathroom wall panelling brand, has produced a new trade brochure and two online training videos to help installers understand the features and benefits of their acrylic and HPL panels and how easy they are to fit. The new 20-page full-colour brochure

offers a practical overview of the Showerwall range to aid plumbers, joiners, builders and bathroom retailer fitting teams. It includes helpful graphics that demonstrate how Showerwall’s large format panels offer installation time and cost-saving benefits compared to tiling, together with technical information about the HPL and acrylic systems including the accessories required to install the panels. Thumbnails of the 84 decors available in the full Showerwall collection are also included to aid consumer decision making. Two expertly produced online training videos

have also been made available as part of the installer support package. The short videos highlight the benefits of each material, the tools

and products needed to fit the panels and a brief overview of

the installation process. The new support materials have been

produced to coincide with the launch of the Find a Fitter programme which aims to build a nationwide network of trusted installers listed in a directory on the Showerwall website. Installers can register for the scheme at www.showerwall.co.uk/fit-it.

sales of £33.3m for the year end November 2019. However, in the last 12 months, its sales have grown to in excess of £45m and increased staff numbers to 420 people nationally, making it an even stronger contender for the 2021 table.

Cubico takes spot on Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 The company was founded in 2012 by

managing director Craig Waddington, selling bathroom and tile products via its network of wholesale channels. Craig said: "I'm incredibly proud of what
