he award-winning Kartell by Laufen collection, designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, redefines principles, shapes and uses for the bathroom whilst recognising the increasing importance of design in even the most compact living areas, at a time when space is at an all-time premium in today’s homes.
Design-led bathroom solutions are created using Laufen’s ground-breaking SaphirKeramik material, the result of years of research and development by the Swiss manufacturer, which has revolutionised the bathroom industry. SaphirKeramik - a unique ceramic material, which possesses all the hygienic advantages of traditional bathroom ceramics but is thinner, more defined, extremely robust and nearly half the weight of traditional ceramics. The special properties are due to the addition of corundum, a colourless component of sapphire.
Ludovica and Roberto Palomba have maximised the possibilities of SaphirKeramik and created basins with thin borders, round or squared, in a variety of shapes and sizes. Cleverly crafted to suit small bathrooms and cloakrooms but will look stunning in large bathrooms too. The design-duo and Laufen
have gone one step further by transforming drain design. The new washbasins have no visible drainage opening which means that the water disappears into a narrow hidden drain through an elegant line. If space is limited, you don’t have to compromise on style. Square washbasins measure from just 460 x 460mm. Featuring a shelf to the left or right and a delicate rim around the edge that prevents water from overflowing, a tap ledge and, even in the case of the smallest model, an integrated shelf area. In addition to wall mounted basins, Kartell by Laufen furniture is perfectly formed to complement ceramic pieces, echoing the lightness of SaphirKeramik throughout whilst creating the illusion of more floor space. Vanity units feature space saving siphons, drawers and internal shelves to maximize storage space and ensure a clutter free look. In Matt Grey, and glossy finishes including White, Black and Orange the collection comprises vanity units in a variety of sizes to fit with your overall design scheme.
