Hot, Cold & Filtered Taps

Solid stainless steel is the ‘new-luxury’ for kitchen taps

A

Comment by Fiona Bowyer Marketing Director, Franke

strong interiors theme currently is the emergence of different materials and finishes in black, bronze, nickel and copper for door ironmongery, bathroom brassware and kitchen taps, driven by the desire to create eclectic looks with new- luxury or time-worn finishes. They are very of-the-moment but may remain niche in appeal. Solid stainless steel as a tap finish also falls into the category for ‘new-luxury’, however offers much greater design longevity and I think this is why we are seeing a marked rise in interest for this finish.

As a material, solid stainless steel exudes a certain status, that of a purchaser with design appreciation. It speaks the language of premium quality, precision manufacture, professional status and high value. This is particularly the case for taps that also offer benefits such as filtration, boiling water and spray options, as todays’ consumer expects

more and more in-built functionality from a single product.

To elevate the aesthetics of their kitchens, consumers are looking for design synergy too. Solid stainless steel is an exact match for stainless steel sinks, which remain the by far the most popular option, and achieving real design integration across products is a trend coming through much more now in sink and tap development.
