PHAM NEWS | JULY/AUGUST 2025 Product News 35 Two heat pump models, many applications

Now available from Hitachi Cooling & Heating is a new generation airH2O air-to-water heat pump range, featuring two models: airH2O 800 R290 (monobloc and hydrosplit) and airH2O 600 R32 (refrigerant split). This new product range is described as offering high efficiency, superior comfort and next-level safety, suitable for both refurbishment projects and new residential builds. The airH2O 800 series runs

on R290 refrigerant, a natural refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 0.02. A standout feature of the

airH2O range is its advanced noise reduction system. The outdoor units have been engineered with several enhancements to minimise acoustic impact, including: vibration-absorbing structure to reduce mechanical noise, optimised fan and motor design for smoother, quieter operation; and a dedicated silent mode, for nighttime use or sound-sensitive

Integrated storage for improved pressure

environments. The airH2O 800 R290 has

been designed with installer and user safety at its core. A sealed design keeps refrigerant outside the living space, eliminating direct contact or handling. Going over the minimum regulatory standard, the heat pump boasts up to 12 integrated safety features, including a real-time leak alarm system.

Built to perform even under

extreme conditions, the new airH2O heat pumps deliver: nominal heating capacity guaranteed at -7°C; DHW production up to 55°C at -20°C, and available between -25°C and +43°C; max leaving water temperature of 75°C in heating mode; and up to 60°C at -20°C outdoor temperature (with the airH2O 800 unit). ◼ phamnews.co.uk/725/67

Chemical-free anti-limescale device

Designed to combat limescale caused by hard water, the Caleffi eCAL by Altecnic is an electrolytic anti-scale device that offers a smart, sustainable and maintenance-free alternative to chemical water softeners and traditional magnetic filters. The Caleffi eCAL works by using a

low-voltage electric field to convert calcium and magnesium ions into stable aragonite microcrystals, which remain suspended in the flow and are flushed out naturally, rather than forming scale on heating elements and pipework. An integrated stainless steel filter

(50μm) captures suspended particles, while a high-performance neodymium magnet traps ferromagnetic impurities, delivering dual protection.

A self-contained system with no

moving parts, the eCAL reduces installation time and eliminates the need for regular servicing, with a 7-year average internal cartridge lifespan. It has been engineered to be as intuitive and efficient to install as it is to operate, with a transparent filter chamber for clear visual inspection. Cleaning and maintenance is also made easier for the installer with tool free cleaning, with a removable cartridge and isolated magnet chamber. MD Gary Perry says: “Installers need

reliable ways to protect modern heating systems without introducing chemicals or costly maintenance. eCAL delivers all that in a compact, plug-and-play format.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/725/68

Simplifying installation of heat pumps

Heat Saviour is the name of a new product designed to cut heat pump installation time, disruption and labour costs by 20%. Developed by UK-based heating company Hewer, the unit is a compact, pre-assembled component that conveniently sits underneath a standard hot water cylinder, transferring the heat fed from the heat pump through a plate exchanger, which indirectly powers the central heating system. Unlike traditional heat pump

systems, which tie households into specific manufacturers’ components due to their singular loop design, Heat Saviour enables the use of off-the- shelf components for quicker installation. Operating on a

dual-circuit loop, the heat pump runs independently of the existing central heating, eliminating the need for system overhauls. This minimises disruption and downtime, cuts labour costs by up to 20%, and is claimed to deliver homeowners savings of up to £2,000 per installation. With glycol only in the heat

pump circuit, it cuts glycol use by 80%, which is better for the environment, and allows radiator maintenance without the costly expense of having to drain and replace the glycol solution. The unit also has a built-in backup heating element, which can either be switched on manually or controlled remotely using a Vericon Systems connected solution. This avoids downtime during maintenance or pump failure, crucial for vulnerable people, and reduces how often engineers need to enter the property. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/725/69

Kit cuts under-sink installation time

The Rapid Fit Plumb Kit from Leisure Sinks and its sister brand Rangemaster has been designed to save on installation time. This factory-assembled, telescopic waste plumbing kit clips straight onto British Standard pipework and can cut under-sink fitting time by up to 75%. The Rapid Fit system is designed to deliver

consistent, leak-free connections with minimal effort. In addition to Rapid Fit, the range includes a variety

of stainless steel sinks in single-, double- and 1.5- bowl configurations. These are held in stock and are supported by an express drop-ship service for quicker delivery. WRAS-approved taps are also available, ensuring compliance with UK water regulations. For higher-specification projects, the brands offer fire- clay ceramic and granite composite sinks to illustrate the variety of finishes and colours on offer. “Rapid Fit is the simplest way to guarantee a leak-

free connection first time,” says Tom O’Sullivan, head of trade sales at Rangemaster. “Coupled with British- made sinks carrying warranties of up to 25 years, we’re giving installers a package that’s robust, readily available and quick to fit.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/725/71

The Stormboost mains boosting pump range from Stuart Turner has been enhanced with the introduction of new models that incorporate an integrated water storage pressure vessel, allowing for sustained high flow rates. The original Stormboost pump offered a compact solution boosting pressure by up to 2.5 bar and featuring a patented bypass that prevents flow restriction at higher mains pressure. Now, to meet

demands for even greater flow, Stuart Turner has introduced the Stormboost 60, 80, 100, 200 and 300 capacity models. Designed for easy, direct-mains installation, these new units offer versatility in placement, with the 60 and 80-litre models fitting neatly into standard

kitchen base units, and larger capacities (100, 200, 300 litres) suitable for utility rooms. These new models deliver up to 3.2 bar of pressure

and flow rates of up to 27 litres per minute for peak demand, ensuring multiple outlets can be used simultaneously without compromise. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/725/70
