Prevent freezing in renewable energy systems
Better fl ow with a swept elbow
The alpex MLCP system by Fränkische has been enhanced with the addition of new swept elbows made from PPSU. These fi ttings off er a 55% reduction in pressure drops compared to traditional ‘knuckle elbows’, building on the fl ow-optimised fi ttings in the alpex portfolio. As heating systems increasingly
operate at lower temperatures, maintaining fl ow rates is becoming more critical. MLCP systems off er an advantage over plastic piping due to their consistent internal diameter, matching that of copper. The new
swept elbows are designed to support higher fl ow rates while reducing reliance on metal parts, helping to avoid corrosion and added cost. Fränkische manufactures the
fi ttings using lead-free PPSU and silicon bronze, materials chosen for their durability and suitability for drinking water. The full system is rated for continuous use at temperatures up to 95°C and pressures of 10 bar, off ering consistent performance under demanding conditions. ◼

Part of its Midbrass renewable range, Navigator’s new antifreeze valve has been designed to work with heat pumps and other renewable energy systems, providing reliable protection and enhancing system effi ciency. Automatic temperature regulation ensures the valve automatically
opens at 3°C to release water and prevent freezing, and closes at 4°C to stop the discharge, for seamless operation without manual intervention. By releasing water that would
Tap connector is the best of both worlds
Ridgeline has introduced the Tap Connector, a fl exible, full-bore, corrugated stainless steel plumbing connector. Designed for use in water installations, it off ers an alternative to traditional braided tap connectors and copper pipework. Unlike standard braided connectors, which often
rely on internal rubber linings that can degrade or restrict fl ow, the Ridgeline Tap Connector uses a liner-free, stainless steel design. This allows for higher water fl ow, reduced pressure drop, and improved resistance to mechanical fatigue. It also removes materials that may aff ect taste or contribute to microplastic contamination.
Approved by KIWA and WRAS, Ridgeline Tap
Connectors are available in a wide range of sizes and fi ttings, including 15mm, 22mm, ½", and ¾" options, with lengths from 300 to 500mm, plus ISO, compression and BSP-compatible ends. The Ridgeline Tap Connector is off ered as a long-
term solution to both braided tap connectors and copper piping, combining the best of both worlds. ◼

otherwise freeze and expand, the valve protects the closed circuit heating system and connected components, like pumps, valves and pipework, from damage. Constructed from durable
materials like DRZ solid brass material, the valve is designed to withstand harsh conditions and provide reliable performance over time. With a sensitivity of ±1°C, the valve ensures accurate temperature control, enhancing the safety and effi ciency of the heating system. ◼
