NEWS HUB Frog Bikes has been sold to Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group
AFTER falling into administration earlier this year, Sky News has reported that Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has bought Frog Bikes for an undisclosed fee. Frog Bikes is not the first cycling brand the group has bought, with Evans Cycles also falling under the Frasers Group ownership in 2018. Frog Bikes was founded in 2013, by husband and wife Shelley and Jerry Lawson, in Pontypool, Wales. The news comes weeks after the brand let go the

Laka acquires VeloLife’s bike insurance business
LAKA announced the acquisition of assets from VeloLife, the specialist cycle insurance provider, marking Laka’s fourth acquisition in three years and the first public milestone in the active M&A pipeline that Laka signalled when it closed its £14.1 million Series B – which included a dedicated £6.5 million venture debt facility from HSBC Innovation Banking, secured specifically to fund strategic acquisitions.
The acquisition accelerates Laka’s
footprint in the UK bike dealer channel. A cornerstone of this growth is a partnership with EPOS provider Citrus Lime, which allows Laka to embed its insurance products directly into the retail workflow of hundreds of independent bike shops – deepening Laka’s B2B2C model at the point of sale. ●

Zwift Acquires ROUVY
ZWIFT has completed the strategic acquisition of ROUVY, the real routes cycling app. The brand says this acquisition aims to accelerate growth in the indoor cycling category through strategic cooperation between the two companies. Zwift confirmed that Zwift Ready
smart trainers and Zwift Ride smart frames will work with ROUVY, unlocking new experiences within the ROUVY
software application and making it easier for new users to get started. Further updates are planned over the coming months. Both Zwift and ROUVY will continue to operate independently, with differentiated roadmaps and subscription packages. ●
