MANAGEMENT

Media director Paul Ryder

As an industry, I think we could do a much better job of communicating, especially with each other. I’m not for one minute saying I have all the answers as to how we go about achieving this, but bringing it up can’t hurt, can it? I’d like to hear your thoughts. How do you think we could do better? What

problems do you personally have that might be easier if there was somewhere you could discuss them? What is this industry missing? How might we help facilitate or start the conversations to make this happen? This comes following seeing one particular post amongst the many of late. This specific post aired a frustration about a launch event happening a few days before Eurobike, albeit in a different part of Germany. This isn’t about pointing fingers, it’s just to talk about the importance of dialogue. Life is busy. There are always problems to solve amongst the general day

to day running of things. But I can’t help but feel (and I’m not discounting the many organisations, businesses and others who do a great job of doing so) that the saying about a problem shared is a problem halved carries some weight. With the future of Eurobike looking like there’s more change in store (read

our interview with Fairnamic MD, Phillip Ferger in this issue for more on that), at least in the business as usual way of things, it bears saying that industry support means a lot. For many, the show has been a meeting point and a staple in the annual calendar for many years. As with anything, use it or lose it. If it’s been of benefit to you, get involved, share your thoughts, feedback on what works and what doesn’t. As with most things, communication is key.
