“Proving that poor game optimisation is no hinderanace to an enjoyable experience in the Shoemaker household, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and The Callisto Protocol on PC have been on heavy rotation in the run up to Christmas. I’m reminded of the hours I used to spend trying to get Quake to run at a decent clip on my old 486 - futile, but still fun.”

Richie Shoemaker, Editor

“I’ve been playing a lot of Pokémon Violet, and feeling like I really need to get back to Bayonetta 3 and Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope before they fall into the neverending pile of ‘games I intend to get back to’, from which games often don’t return. Also, by the time you’re reading this, Fortnite Chapter 3 will have ended, and I will presumably now be in awe at all of the new additions that have been added with Fortnite Chapter 4.”

Vince Pavey, Staff Writer

“I’ve been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Mario Strikers: Battle League Football and Marvel Snap this month, which are all pretty great. I’ve also been listening to a lot of “Feel it All Around” by Soul Blind, which makes for great background tracks for my time spent in Warzone 2.0.”

Pet: Otto Owner: Kayleigh Gilkerson Owner’s job: PR and Marketing Manager at Kalypso Media

We’re not sure working at Kalypso Media was the type of job Otto the working cocker spaniel was bred for, but he seems to be doing a pretty good job at it so far. When he’s not playing with Tropico Merch, he insists on joining video calls by leaping onto Kayleigh’s lap. His colleagues over in HQ also love that he has a German name!

Pet: Zara Owner: Leia Schall Owner’s job: Greenlight Administrator, Secret Mode

Zara is 100% done with everything, and sleeps all day in the worst places - for example on the stairs, waiting to trip someone up. She will come and turn off your laptop, or jump on the send email button before it is finished, and she will not care. The only time she meows is to get food.

Pet: Miso Owner: Will Lawes Owner’s job: Account Manager at Bastion

Affectionate and fluffy, Miso is a four-month-old puppy who loves chewing on anything he can find, barking at his own reflection, and climbing up on windowsills (his favourite perch is behind the sofa, so that he has a clear view of Andor). He’s currently going to school where he has met his first girlfriend, but they’re not allowed to sit together as they cause too much trouble, unfortunately. Ignoring that, he is a very good boy.
