WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM MAKING AP THAT YOU’LL TAKE FORWARD INTO FUTURE GAMES? We’re a really little team and Arcade Paradise is a really big game. Our way of working puts the fun of gameplay above everything else and each game we make teaches us something new. So having made more than 35 arcade games and an intricate management simulator that holds them all together has really taught us a massive amount. Probably the biggest lesson though, is how to get the most bang for buck, and where to trim the fat, as it were. With us creating so much content we really had to decide where to spend additional effort and where we didn’t need to put as much. The arcade games are the stars of Arcade Paradise, so we really spent a long time making sure each one felt faithful to the era, but played in a manner that’s friendly to modern audiences. I think we’ve
managed to strike that balance well, adding silly details where players will appreciate it. We always strive to create games that encourage that “I’ll just play for five more minutes” and three hours later you’re still
playing, loop. Until the game is in players’ hands you can’t be sure if it’s going to tick all those boxes. Judging by the reactions of our fans, we’ve exceeded what we were expecting to deliver. That’s definitely something we’ll be taking into whatever we do next.
