The evergreen digital retailer and indie publisher is looking forward to another colourful year. Richie Shoemaker quizzes founder and CEO Paul Sulyok on what might be in store


W


ith spring just around the corner, it seems an apt time to be talking about the growth that Green Man Gaming


hopes to experience in the months ahead, since of course the Green Man himself (which is to say the bearded pagan-esque figure that adorns numerous Victorian buildings, not the distinctly unbearded one pictured above) is the very embodiment of rebirth and germination. To that end we fired off some questions to Paul Sulyok, GMG’s founder and CEO, to rake through the leaves of 2021 as he tends the shoots that will hopefully blossom in the months ahead.


How was 2021 for Green Man Gaming, both in terms of digital sales and the publishing side of the business? With the covid restrictions and consequently the increase in demand for entertainment in 2021, Green Man Gaming took the opportunity to focus on two key growth areas of the wider business. Clearly, the bricks and mortar footfall reductions


impacted the highstreet which accelerated the migration from physical games to digital downloads, moving demand into the space that we’ve been operating in for the last 10 years. The other area was the Green Man Gaming


publishing team, who have been busy working with incredibly talented development studios on interesting and exciting games for 2022 and 2023. With one title already successfully launched into Early Access and our next launch scheduled for February, the team will have more great announcements coming soon.
