RECRUITMENT Recruiter Hotseat

Charlotte Connolly, talent acquisition partner at Rebellion North, runs us through the career opportunities at the studio as it celebrates its 30th anniversary

What differentiates your studio from other developers?

Rebellion celebrates its 30th birthday this year, and we remain totally independent. Rebellion North, based in Ossett near Wakefield, is our most recently acquired studio. They have a really diverse suite of projects ranging from the development of their very first Rebellion-owned IP, to working on AAA titles for several third parties in industry leading engines. The wide range of projects means that our people can explore so many different avenues within games development and have the opportunity to work on both Rebellion and external IP. It’s a great mixture which is very alluring.

Rebellion also has a HUGE back catalogue of licences which means that we can bring these classic IPs to a life on next generation consoles – the possibilities are really exciting!

“Your CV should be clear, easy to read and shaped for the role that you are applying for. Outline the skills & experience you have which make you suitable for the role and tell us why you want to work for us.”

How many staff are you currently looking to take on? We are always looking for talented people to join Rebellion. Specifically in our North studio, our current focus is on hiring brilliant programmers to support our current projects, although the studio is a mix of all specialisms and we anticipate large growth for 2022. Be sure to keep an eye out for new opportunities.

What should aspiring devs do with their CV to get an interview? Your CV should be clear, easy to read and shaped for the role that you are applying for. Outline the skills & experience you have which make you suitable for the role and tell us why you want to work for us. We read all CVs, so make yours stand out. If you are applying for a creative role include a link to your portfolio so we can see your work.

What advice would you give for a successful interview at your studio? Prepare! Do your research on Rebellion, our games and what we do. It’s important that you understand the role that you are interviewing for, and how your skills align to that. Be confident in your experience and achievements. Interviews are a two-way street and this is as much about you getting to know us as it is about us getting to know you. The interview is your opportunity to ask anything you need to know about a potential place of work. Above all, be yourself. Part of the process is getting to know YOU; what makes you special, what are your passions? Culture fit is important to us too.
