EHL’S new seed blends for bakers

EHL Ingredients has launched a new selection of seed blends aimed at the bakery sector, allowing bakers and food manufacturers to develop new and innovative foods to tap into current market trends. Crunchy, healthy, and visually appealing, seeds are becoming a staple in many healthy eating regimes. The new seed blends are ideal for use in bagels, high fibre and low carb loaves, sourdough and super seeded breads, gluten-free and plant-based breads and rolls, rye bread and bloomers.

The seeds allow bakers to create a point of differentiation in the marketplace, bringing curiosity and interest at the point of purchase. They remain stable under high temperatures, can be used as a filling or topping, retain their flavour and are versatile in their uses. They can also enhance the visual appearance and bring a premium, health-led positioning to the finished product on shelf.

The bakery sector is constantly innovating and evolving, as witnessed with the abundance of novel breads and baked goods on supermarket shelves. The demand for healthy, minimally-processed bakery options is on the rise, as consumers strive to avoid ultra-processed foods and opt for more natural options with as few additives as possible.

The five new seed blends are available under the Lähde brand in various pack sizes to large scale and craft bakers, in-store bakeries, start ups and food manufacturers. All are highly versatile for use on conventional baked goods as well as plant-based, gluten-free and low fat foods, and they are available in vegan, non-allergen, and organic formats.

Hilton Macarons wins silver in National Food Awards

Hot on the heels of its recent success in the Great Taste Awards, Hilton Macarons has picked up a further award in the Great British Food Awards 2024. Judged by master patissier, Eric Lanlard, in the Sweet Bakes category, the brand was awarded a Silver Award for its Passionfruit Chocolate Macaron, a flavour originally a creation of Pierre Hermé, the undisputed master of macarons. The combination of sharp passion fruit juice with rich milk chocolate results in a smooth ganache that wonderfully enhances the taste of both. The Great British Food Awards were launched in 2014 to celebrate the country’s finest artisanal produce, as well as the hard-working people behind the scenes. This year was the awards’ biggest to date.

Hilton Macarons are handmade in Suffolk using only the finest ingredients. Its Italian meringue shells are made with free-range eggs, whilst its fillings are comprised of Belgian chocolate, all natural flavours, and contain nothing artificial. All its macarons are vegetarian and entirely gluten-free.
