Guylian unveils new duty free range and Master’s Selection

Belgian chocolate brand Guylian has announced a new duty free range and a reviewed Master’s Selection – the best of the best. Both will be available exclusively in the travel retail channel and duty free shops. Like air traffi c, duty free sales have also increased in

recent months. A perfect moment for Guylian to announce the new look and feel of its new duty free range, which is fully in line with the recently launched new packaging. Characteristic for this duty free range is the blue-green colour which refers to the North Sea – where the founders in 1958 got their inspiration for chocolate seashells, the famous Brussels skyline in the background as well as the “traveller’s exclusive” stamp on the packaging. Furthermore, since September 2022 all Guylian packaging is 100% recyclable. This new version contains whole and traditionally roasted

hazelnuts and focuses on an intense taste experience. The number one change is that since June 2022, the chocolate brand only uses 100% Fairtrade cacao. The Guylian Master’s Selection was also given a new, chic

look. This gourmet souvenir fi ts perfectly in the premium segment and is an ideal gift to surprise your loved ones when you return home. The selection was given a sustainable new look and

feel and, thanks to the use of cardboard, is 100% plastic- free. You can choose between a 117-gram box with 16 chocolates or a 185-gram version with 25. The Master’s selection contains unexpected and exotic recipes, as well as more classic fl avours like the original Guylian praliné, all inspired by the creativity and expertise of Guylian’s Master Chocolatiers. The delicate pralines are meticulously crafted with carefully selected ingredients of the highest quality, Fairtrade cocoa and do not contain palm oil or soy, in line with Guylian’s sustainability policy. Master’s Selection is exclusively available in the Travel Retail channel and duty free shops.

Nestlé announces packaging innnovation for beloved brands

Nestlé Confectionery has announced packaging

innovations for two of its best-loved brands – Quality Street and KitKat. In a category fi rst, Quality Street will move to recyclable paper packaging for its twist-wrapped sweets. By replacing the double layer of foil and cellulose with a paper wrap, Quality Street will remove more than two billion pieces of packaging material from the brand’s supply chain. At the same time, KitKat will introduce wrappers

made with 80% recycled plastic*. These wrappers can be recycled at more than 5,000 supermarkets across the UK – and placed in household recycling in the Republic of Ireland. The rollout will begin this month on the brand’s fl agship two-fi nger products, before being extended across the entire range by 2024. Purchased by more than 6 in 10 households in the UK,

KitKat will use the highest proportion of recycled food- grade plastic of any major UK & Ireland confectionery brand. The launch is part of Nestlé’s ongoing commitment towards reducing its environmental impact and supporting a circular economy. This commitment is further demonstrated by the

new Quality Street wrappers, which were developed by packaging experts at Nestlé’s research and development centre in York. One innovation is the development of a special vegetable-based coating for the paper, which does not hinder the recycling process. Nine of the 11 Quality Street sweets will move to paper-based packaging. The Orange Crunch and the Green Triangle will remain in their simple foil wrappers as, traditionally, they have not had cellulose wrappers. The transition to paper, which is now underway, will take several months to complete. This means that for Christmas 2022, consumers will fi nd a mix of both the old and new wrappers in their Quality Street cartons, pouches, tubs, and tins. The delicious mix of sweets inside is unchanged.
