An evolving packaging industry


Thomas Dohse, Director of interpack speaks with Kennedy’s Confection Editor, Kiran Grewal, and discusses the prominence of interpack 2023 amongst the developing and diverse packaging sector


Q: Give us a little background on your career before you became Director of interpack? I have been with Messe Düsseldorf for 25 years and I am an absolute enthusiast of the trade show business, a dynamic industry with an unparalleled international environment. I started as a trainee, then became sales


manager and project manager for various trade fairs, such as the water sports fair “Boot”. I have been part of the interpack  director.


Q: What makes you excited about the process and packaging world? The packaging industry is part of our everyday lives. It is of great importance for supplying and feeding the world and therefore naturally has growth potential. In doing so, it is constantly reinventing itself, is very innovative, diverse and is constantly looking for solutions to meet the needs of customers and consumers. There are many opportunities to

develop new materials, designs and technologies to make  friendly. At the same time, processing and packaging is both  every element of this at interpack.


Q: How has the interpack trade fair developed as time has gone on? We look back on a long tradition and have always been as close as possible to the industry since 1958. This is incredibly
