Feature: Embedded design

for system architects and soſt ware engineers that help them to customise the core for their specifi c application and easily integrate these signals into various endpoints. T e TeleCANesis solution is a soſt ware environment that
provides automated code generation, signal visualisation and robust runtime performance, making it possible to interconnect system nodes quickly using standardised communication interfaces and protocols. By boosting soſt ware development effi ciency, the TeleCANesis embedded connectivity toolkit is estimated to be capable of reducing development costs by as much as 70%. Designed to enable developers get their products to market
faster, the TeleCANesis lean middleware platform consists of three key components: the Engine, a confi gurable runtime core with all the services needed for connectivity and protocol conversion; the Hub, a web application orientated towards the system-architecture level for rapid system initialisation and design; and the Builder, a VSCode extension that helps users integrate TeleCANesis-powered technology into their codebase. T e platform can be further expanded with new features,
without requiring an overhaul of its core structure. Its architecture allows for higher-layer plugins that provide added value when tackling challenges such as application-level domain protocols like J1939 and ISOBus, oſt en used in agricultural and heavy industrial vehicles, NMEA 2000 in marine systems and RVC used in recreational vehicles. Hardware buses supported by TeleCANesis include CAN,
GPIO and Modbus, and protocols like MQTT, ZeroMQ and REST, with fl exible data formats (JSON, BSON, CAN, RAW and more).
The solution also seamlessly integrates with such HMI
environments as Crank Storyboard, DiSTI GL Studio, Slint and Unity. This means engineers now have a robust way of tackling handshaking with these systems, easing integration using code generation and eliminating the burden of manually connecting these endpoints. Users can be confident that their code will satisfy the standards required to meet functional-safety specifications such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 and ISO 60601, as well as the latest cybersecurity recommendations. In addition, the TeleCANesis platform can adapt quickly
to incorporate other embedded system components such as message brokers, embedded service applications, operating system facilities and hardware connections. This flexibility means developers can keep pace with technical changes and scale up as required to meet the challenges of new markets and applications. The TeleCANesis software development kit offers a
framework for creating plugins to integrate custom protocols or transport interfaces.
Fundamental requirements Clearly defining dataflows and enabling connectivity have become fundamental requirements when designing today’s cutting-edge embedded systems. The TeleCANesis platform is an alternative to the time-consuming task of building these increasingly complex and interconnected systems using conventional methods. Now, software teams can work more efficiently, letting developers focus on differentiating features and get their products to market faster.
