PREVIEW: SBC SUMMIT
Cubeia’s Christian Karlsson on what the supplier wants out of SBC Summit Lisbon
Cubeia arrives in Lisbon this month with a deliberately narrow pitch. The Stockholm-based supplier, which has been building games and systems for the iGaming industry since 2007, will spend SBC Summit talking to one type of operator above all others: the ones trying to get a crypto casino live.
C
hristian Karlsson, Chief Revenue Offi cer at Cubeia, says: “There is no shortage of people who want to launch. What they run into is the gap between deciding to do it and actually being live and taking bets. That gap is where most projects stall, and closing it is the part of the problem we have spent years engineering out.”
NANO PLATFORM
The company’s answer is its Nano platform, which Cubeia takes from signed agreement to go-live in three weeks. Operators get more than 12,000 games from providers including Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt and Play’n GO, and a single payments framework covering both fi at and crypto. This includes Bitcoin, the Lightning Network, USDT and USDC across several chains, as well as an on-ramp so players can buy crypto with a card, and instant withdrawals.
Karlsson expects the conversations in Lisbon to be more pointed than in previous years. “Two years ago the questions were about whether crypto could work at all. Now operators are asking who holds the player database, whose cloud account the platform runs in, and what happens if they want to take the technology in-house later. Those are the right questions, and they are the ones we are comfortable answering. Nano is installed in the operator’s own cloud, the data belongs to them, and a source code licence is available if they want one.”
COMPLIANCE
Compliance is the other theme Cubeia is bringing to the stand. A responsible gambling module covering self-exclusion, deposit limits, wagering limits and loss limits is due this quarter, aimed at operators moving from unlicensed into regulated territory.
Asked what a good show looks like, Karlsson is unsentimental about scale. “Forty thousand people walk through that venue. We are not trying to meet all of them. We are trying to have 30 serious conversations with operators who have a real launch in front of them, and to leave with a handful of those far enough along that they know exactly what working with us looks like.”
Cubeia is on Stand B626 at SBC Summit Lisbon, 29 September to 1 October.
