the smart appliance market will double by 2019 and that the connected home industry could be worth more than £225bn by 2020, there’s never been a better time for retailers to invest in bringing the connected home to their showrooms. The current explosion of interest in connected appliances is being driven by the rapid increase in the use of voice technology and devices from some of the industry’s biggest smart brands. Consumers that are looking to buy a new kitchen and are in the mind-set to make more significant changes to their home are more open to the idea of connected appliances working seamlessly within a connected home, according to Tristan Sherlock, Sales Director, Kitchen Independents, BSH Home Appliances. “When it comes to selling the benefits of automation and connected appliances to consumers, seeing is believing,” he says. “Those retailers who can capture the early adopters will have a head start on the rest. Creating a showroom where consumers can experience for themselves the spine-tingling excitement that a beautiful connected kitchen can offer will keep you one step ahead. “There’s a perception that the connected home is complicated. The only way to spread the message that this isn’t the case is with live demonstrations and engaging with consumers, and this is why we’re encouraging our retailers to get involved. The connected home is designed to make our lives easier and free up our time so we can invest more time doing the things we love, with the people we love.”
