era of living”, the brand said. CEO, Yannick Fierling, hosted a press conference at the show where he took the audience through the latest developments that marked the company’s growth in recent years, as well as the new products and solutions on the horizon. “We are moving from creating products to designing experiences and scenarios,” he said. “We are not only making people’s daily lives easier, but also shaping the future of our society.”

Mr Fierling spoke about Haier Europe’s developments in recent years and how this feeds into its main vision to be the number one leader in smart home appliances. “We have more than 25 per cent market
share in connected appliances across Europe,” he said, “and currently six million connected users today. This generates a vast amount of information and data and understanding how our customers use our products is key to how we improve them.

IFA 2023, with the concept of ‘Connect to Extraordinary’, Haier Europe showcased its latest solutions and cutting-edge services that are shaping “the new
software. Imagine in the future your dishwasher or your fridge doing the same. We are constantly developing updates for our products so the latest software can be downloaded automatically via the hOn app – and this will massively improve the usability and efficiency of our products in customers’ homes.” At the conference Mr Fierling (pictured above) explained that thanks to Artificial Intelligence and new technologies, products from Haier, Hoover and Candy (the brands which make up the Haier Europe portfolio) can create home environments where living ecosystems develop a platform of integrated and all-encompassing services.
The company aims to build a Home-Energy- Ecosystem that can manage the energy of an entire home according to smart grid, interconnecting domestic appliances, HVAC, and Solar and Photovoltaic systems. The hOn app will orchestrate all the devices and Haier Europe is targeting a complete solution scenario to help consumers monitor and reduce energy consumptions and related costs.
Planning ahead
As well as this, Mr Fierling announced that there will be a “refreshed” Candy brand launching early next year.
“We are not changing the history of our well known historical brands,” he said. “Candy means smart Italian design and accessibility, and that is how it will remain. We are just accelerating the launch of new products leveraging all the power we have within the Haier Group.”
As part of these plans, the company is investing around €60 million in a new cooking factory in Turkey, and products will be coming off the line there by January. Mr Fierling continued: “Energy efficiency
remains one of the big features of the Candy brand. You will be amazed at the new products coming from Candy in 2024!” There were also big announcements for Hoover – most of which are detailed opposite. The new HFX cordless vacuum was a highlight of the conference, and of Hoover’s stand; attendees also heard about a string of new MDAs too. During his presentation, Mr Fierling also touched on Haier’s impressive brand-new line-up of SDAs; all seven of the new products were on display for visitors. “We will not stop innovating,” he concluded. “What matters to us is every single one of our customers. But it’s not just about the functions of the products in their homes, it’s about the experience, and our obsession is to make that experience the best it possibly can be.”
