Home Entertainment ANALYSIS: OUTDOOR LIVING

A key selling point for the IE 200 is their unique dual-tuning feature. The ear tips can be mounted in one of two positions, allowing them to prioritise bass or a detailed treble, depending on taste.

Noise cancelling is also excellent, courtesy of dual hybrid ANC technologies, specifically a hardware filter using a dedicated chip for analogue processing, and a software filter for digital processing. When it comes to wired (3.5mm) IEMs, an

easy recommendation is the Sennheiser IE 200. At £129.99 they’re the most affordable IEMs yet from the brand, yet retain the detail and clarity these ultra-compact earbuds are known for.

Jermo Koehnke, Sennheiser Audiophile

Product Manager, describes them as “an open invitation for everyone to enjoy high-end sound – users will be able to hear the details that they’ve been missing in ordinary headphones.” The IE 200 boast a 7mm extra-wide band transducer, with minimal Harmonic distortion and a frequency response curve that you might expect from earphones costing a good deal more.

Samsung’s Terrace TV

For your viewing pleasure Of course, if your customers are looking for a high-end garden display option, there’s always Samsung’s Terrace telly – a 4K QLED smart TV, available in 55- to 75-inch screen sizes, that’s IP55 certified and weatherproof. Just 6cm deep, the screen is designed for wall-mounting and boasts bespoke anti- glare display technology, ensuring it’s still bright and viewable even when the sun comes out. And for

electrical retailers with a CI

operation, the Terrace supports Control4 and other automation protocols. “The screen is able to adapt to the viewing

environment, which makes it the ideal TV for outdoor use,” says Wincent Lau, Commercial Strategy and Customer Experience at Samsung Electronics. “There’s a good upsell opportunity here too. While the set’s on board object tracking sound system is fine for casual viewing, it makes perfect sense to partner the panel with our matching Terrace soundbar, which is also IP55 rated. With 210w of amplification, it’s plenty loud enough for patio and poolside use.”

Bluetooth speakers Featuring various light modes, Samsung’s Sound Tower provides an audio-visual harmony that truly matches the mood of the night, and with wireless Bluetooth users can connect up to two devices simultaneously with just a touch. The Sound Tower offers bi-directional sound, allowing individuals to experience a wider soundstage that fills the party! And with up to 18 hours of battery life, you can take it on the go, so it’s a nifty Summer accessory. JBL, of course, is synonymous with wireless speakers, thanks to the strength and breadth of its portable line up. Now the brand has upgraded wireless connectivity on the JBL Boombox 3 (below) and JBL Charge 5, adding Wi-Fi support.

JBL says its objective was to extend the

wireless range and overall usability of these portables. Users can stream over Wi-Fi while at home, switching to Bluetooth when out and about.

The models also feature self-tuning, which automatically detects when they’re in a new locale. AirPlay 2, Alexa MRM and Chromecast built-in are all available over Wi-Fi. Playback is rated at 20 hours of playback on the Charge 5 Wi-Fi and 24 hours on the Boombox 3 Wi-Fi. Here’s a USP to stress: the addition of

Wi-Fi connectivity also unlocks Dolby Atmos compatibility on the Boombox 3 Wi-Fi, making it the first JBL speaker to offer the immersive sound format.

In addition to the improved sound, the JBL Boombox 3 Wi-Fi and Charge 5 Wi-Fi feature a sleek new design in a black colourway with gold details – and both models are water and dustproof.

Carsten Olesen, President of Consumer

Audio, Harman Lifestyle Division, says the new duo represent “significant upgrades to both sound and technology.” They’re also great on a picnic blanket with salmon and cucumber sandwiches… and a bottle of chilled white, of course.
