icture the scene: you’re in the middle of the wilderness, surrounded by towering trees, the sound of a nearby stream trickling into your ears, and the sweet smell of fresh
air filling your lungs. It’s just you and nature, and it’s perfect. At least it would be, if you could drown out that awful serenity with your favourite tunes! Whether hiking or holidaying, having the right gear is essential if you want to stay entertained and connected. So it’s time for ERT to slap on the sunscreen and take a closer look at the latest in outdoor technology…
Hi-Fi systems Chord Electronics’ award-winning Mojo range of audio portables, like the Mojo 2 and Poly, and Hugo 2 and 2go, are evidence that there’s no need to compromise on performance when taking your tech on the road. The brand’s most portable music playback device is the pocket-size Mojo 2 and Poly. Dan George, Chord Electronics PR Manager, describes this British-made combo as a fully-fledged Hi-Fi system that can be taken anywhere. Rechargeable batteries provide around eight
hours’ playback.
An added bonus for buyers is that these systems can run off mains power and can double up as a home-based system, a USP worth stressing. The Mojo 2 (pictured right, in black) is a headphone amplifier and DAC, and the add-on Poly module a high-res streamer and micro SD card player, compatible with cards up to 1TB.

All a buyer needs to add are a pair of headphones, and a smartphone to stream from. It’s worth noting that the kit supports two pairs of headphones. Chord Electronics’ Hugo 2 and 2go
streamer/player (right, in silver) combination is the sell-up option. They offer all the functionality of the Mojo 2/Poly combination, but boast audiophile grade performance, extra micro SD storage capacity, full-size RCA outputs and an Ethernet port for superior connectivity. “Absolute audio quality has long been held back by Bluetooth transmission, which although convenient, can’t live up to the
sound quality available via Wi-Fi or cellular streaming,” says Mr George. “The Mojo 2 and Poly, and Hugo 2 and 2go combination uses Wi-Fi, enabling high-quality music streaming from high-resolution streaming platforms like Tidal and Qobuz, so users can have the benefits of wireless convenience, but with uncompromising sound quality.”
