Samsung is just about to launch a brand new
range of smart connected built-in ovens, but it’s not just traditional kitchen appliances that benefit from smart features…
The Jet Bot AI+ Robot Vacuum (pictured right) is more than just a vacuum cleaner. It can remotely monitor the house and check on pets through its front camera – a very useful feature for pet-owners who are now out and about a bit more. This feature is called Jet Live. Video images are streamed straight to the SmartThings App for remote viewing on the user’s smartphone. The app also gives them the ability to remotely schedule the Jet Bot AI+ to clean selectively in either a single room or multiple rooms; it can also define virtual no-go zones.
“The demand for smart home products shows no signs of slowing down,” says Dan Harvie, VP Head of Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics. “We produce so much smart hardware and millions of users have joined the SmartThings platform. “More people than ever before can see the potential for artificial intelligence in their day-to- day lives compared to a few years ago. AI is already in our voice assistants and it’s finding its way into all kinds of appliances.” Samsung’s built-in ovens can be controlled using SmartThings Cooking and by understanding a person’s needs, it recommends personalised recipes and creates a weekly meal plan. It also offers a guided cooking experience and enables effortless grocery shopping.
based on the changing needs of today’s consumers to allow them to get more out of their appliances.” Starting with Taste, AEG’s built-in connected ovens include CamCook, a facility within the My AEG Kitchen app, which allows users to take pictures of their frequently cooked food items. This then stores the cooking settings, ready for their oven to use next time. There’s also CookView (right), an internal camera located in the handle of the oven door, which allows users to watch a live feed of their dish via the app. Dishwashers are also compatible with the app.
“Looking forward, we are keeping focused on creating unique experiences for our consumers,” states Iain Wareham, Head of Product Line Laundry at Electrolux UK and Ireland. “We will continue to reinvent our connected experiences through Taste, Care and Wellbeing,

Not only choose and customise wash programmes, but it helps to maintain the health of the appliance, with access to step-by-step maintenance guides and notifications of when it’s running low on salt and rinse aid. “Meanwhile,” Mr Wareham continues, “the My AEG Care app (pictured above left) supports all of our connected laundry appliances.
