LIGHTING & CONTROLS Smart Home

And launching this September is the Smart Bezel

Voice, which offers the option of integrated voice control. The integrated microphones remove the need for a separate smart speaker in the room, and using far-field microphones and echo cancellation technology, it can track the audio going out against

Dancing on the ceiling! Merging the worlds of lighting and sound, Zuma has taken smart home to the ceiling! The brand claims to simplify smart technology with the Zuma Lumisonic – designed to eradicate complex ceiling speakers by combining colour rendered LED lighting and audio into an ultra-compact ceiling light fixture.

with lots of cables and designed for people to sit in a chair and do nothing but listen to music,” exclaims Morten Warren, Zuma Founder and CEO. “But that isn’t how we live in our homes. We want our music to be where we are, whatever we’re doing; when you’re in a room where the whole ceiling is alive, and you’re bathed in sound, it’s a totally different experience.” Zuma’s ceiling lights are the first to include integrated hi-fi grade speakers for effortless multiroom sound and light control. Mr Warren adds that additional capabilities – including environmental and motion sensors, security cameras and smoke detectors – will be available soon.

“Simplifying the smart home to put the customer experience first is a huge part of our mission,” he says, “and the Bezel Voice is the first step to liberate homes from cluttered surfaces and siloed smart home systems!”

Accessibility for all

Elsewhere, the latest technology from Innr is its Outdoor Globe Lights Colour, with over 16 million colours to choose from and bringing any outdoor space – be it gardens, terraces, balconies or home bars, to life. Available in packs of three, users can set schedules and control the Globes from the Innr app on their phone, while they sit in the ground with the attachable spike or hang from a tree with the handy hanging loop.

Jeroen Dalderop, Co-Founder of Innr, says that a few years ago creating a smart home was viewed as an expensive choice. “It was important for us to create beautiful and high quality smart lights that were also affordable and simple to use, making smart lighting more widely accessible for all,” he says.

Other recent releases include the Innr Bridge, which, with the Innr app, combines Wi-Fi and Zigbee devices in one system; it can control up to 30 smart lights, buttons or detectors. And there’s also the new Smart Remote Control and Smart Button for total flexibility to control all your smart lights more easily than ever. “One of the most important things for homeowners is convenience,” adds Mr Dalderop. Previously you needed to be connected through the app to control your lights, but not everyone in the house might have access to the Innr app. The Innr Smart Switches are the solution – to control

individual our grouped lights in the room with a push of a button.” He goes on: “We are helping to lower the barriers of entry for consumers to get started with smart products across their homes with our Innr smart lighting Starter Kits.

“Going forward, we will add more products and complete kits to solve a specific lighting- related problem in the home – for example, one for convenience, another for energy saving, or even presence simulation as a burglary deterrent.” Mr Dalderop also explains how the smart lighting market will soon start to gravitate from smart bulbs towards lighting fixtures and controls. “This is now much more accepted as a primary lighting standard for smart homeowners versus customers who buy one-off smart light bulbs,” he says. “For us we are prioritising the expansion of our luminaires and controls portfolio.”
