Sony and Samsung top YouGov Consumer Tech poll


YouGov has released its 2026 Consumer Tech Rankings report, exploring the top consumer electronics in Britain based on consideration and perceived value among customers. Consumers were asked which brands they would most consider purchasing when next in the market looking for a new consumer electronics product. Topping that list was Sony, with 34.1 per cent, followed by LG at 28.6 per cent. Panasonic came in third at 24.4 per cent. Philips, Bose, Playstation, Apple (Watch), Samsung (home entertainment),


Nintendo, and ring, were ranked fourth to tenth respectively.


In terms of domestic appliances, Samsung came in top at 47.3 per cent, while Bosch followed in second at 41 per cent. LG ranked third at 36.1 per cent. Hotpoint, Ninja, Dyson, Shark, Russell Hobbs, Miele and Beko were ranked fourth to tenth, respectively in this category. Talking about the report in the foreword, Justin Marshall, Head of Digital, Media and Tech (UK), said: “We explore how leading brands are resonating with distinct demographic cohorts, revealing how gender


and generational preferences are shaping purchase behaviour and loyalty. Bira: High streets funding welcome, but business rates reform essential for lasting change


CDA refreshes leadership  transformation strategy

The UK-based manufacturer has announced a series of internal promotions that see Chloe Knott appointed Head of Customer Care, Craig Taylor becoming Head of Sales, Greg Bones taking up the role of Head of Logistics & Supply Chain, and Laura Sills named Head of Product & Marketing. The appointments form part of a strategic reset of the leadership structure that blends long-standing industry experience with a new generation of emerging talent. All four newly promoted leaders are graduates of CDA’s year-long Future Leaders Programme, which focuses on developing commercial capability through cross-functional exposure, external masterclasses, and one-to-one mentoring. They join established senior leaders including Paula Brown, Finance Director, Rae Hayward, Head of HR, and Mark Taylor, Head of Innovation, Quality and Technical Services, who recently celebrated 20 years with CDA. CDA says this  leadership line-up brings together experience, stability, and fresh thinking at a pivotal time for the company.


Bira has welcomed the government’s £150 million investment in high streets but warned that the funding could be undermined without fundamental business rates reform. The organisation said the investment was encouraging and aligned with recent research showing communities want to take pride in their high streets. CEO Andrew Goodacre, said: “We welcome this £150 million investment in high streets. It’s particularly encouraging that spending decisions will be determined by local people, and we hope local businesses will be involved in those decisions. Investment in the public realm, facilities, accessibility and property will all be crucial. We’d also like to see historic independent retail businesses, often operating in historic buildings, receive support to share their stories with the wider community.” However, Mr Goodacre warned that physical improvements alone would


not revive high streets without addressing the tax burden on businesses. He added: “Restoring shopfronts and opening empty units is pointless if the tax system continues to penalise the very businesses we’re trying to support. We urge the government to ensure its upcoming High Streets Strategy includes fundamental business rates reform to create a level playing 
