“At Hisense, we’re consistently reviewing the sustainability of our products, and have exciting developments in the pipeline for 2026,” says Matthew Glynn, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Hisense UK. “This year, there will be a dedicated focus on more energy-efficient products across all categories, with more A-rated options added to our refrigeration range in particular.”

Refrigeration is a natural focal point for sustainability gains, given that fridge freezers operate continuously. Hisense reports strong consumer demand for more efficient cooling products, where even incremental improvements in energy use can have a measurable impact on household bills and carbon emissions. Models such as the RB440N4ACA Fridge Freezer combine an A energy rating with inverter compressor technology that automatically adjusts cooling output based on internal conditions. Features including Total No Frost and Super Freeze are designed to maintain stable temperatures and reduce food spoilage, supporting both sustainability and everyday convenience. Dishwashing is another area where Hisense is targeting efficiency through scale and intelligent resource management. The brand’s A-rated dishwasher range is positioned across ‘Good’, ‘Better’ and ‘Best’ tiers to ensure accessibility at different price points.

The brand says one of the most popular models, the UV Clean HV693A60UVADUK integrated dishwasher, features an auto-dose system that dispenses only the detergent required for each cycle, reducing waste while improving wash efficiency. With a 16-place-

setting capacity, the model allows users to wash more in a single load, helping to cut both water and energy usage over time. Multiple programmes, including Quick Wash and Eco, alongside UV technology and ultra-quiet operation, reinforce the idea that efficiency does not need to come at the expense of performance or flexibility. Cooking also plays a role in Hisense’s sustainability strategy. Products such as the Hi8 Built-In Oven achieve an A+ energy rating and feature rapid heat-up, reaching 200°C in just five minutes. With a generous 77-litre capacity, the oven allows multiple dishes to be cooked simultaneously, helping to reduce overall cooking time and energy use, a practical efficiency benefit for busy households.

Smarter savings

As sustainability becomes an increasingly decisive factor in appliance purchasing, refrigeration remains one of the most critical categories for delivering meaningful environmental impact. For Liebherr eco performance is positioned as both a responsibility and a point of leadership within the market.

“At Liebherr, we recognise that today’s consumers are more conscious than ever about their energy use and environmental footprint,” says Tim Hutchinson, Divisional Manager at Liebherr UK. “They expect the same awareness from the products they bring into their homes, and we see that as an opportunity to lead.” Technology plays a central role in delivering these efficiency gains. Liebherr’s DuoCooling system uses two completely independent cooling circuits for the fridge and freezer

compartments, preventing air exchange between zones. This not only maintains more stable temperatures but also reduces energy consumption while helping to preserve food quality. Innovations such as BluRoX further reinforce the brand’s engineering- led approach. As the world’s first freezer to use recyclable vacuum perlite insulation, BluRoX replaces traditional foam insulation with a solution designed to deliver superior thermal performance while supporting future recyclability and compliance with evolving environmental regulations. Food preservation is another key sustainability driver within Liebherr’s proposition. Hutchinson highlights that eco appliances resonate most strongly when they deliver tangible, long-term value. “Refrigeration is vital for sustainability because it runs 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,” he explains. “The potential for energy saving far exceeds any other appliance category.” Liebherr’s BioFresh and HydroBreeze technologies are designed to keep food fresh for up to five times longer than conventional systems, helping to reduce food waste, a growing concern for environmentally conscious consumers.

Quiet efficiency

For Miele, sustainability is increasingly defined by measurable improvements in everyday use, where efficiency gains can deliver tangible benefits for both consumers and the environment. Rather than focusing on isolated eco features, the brand’s approach centres on long-term performance, reduced resource consumption and product longevity across its core categories. >>
