ANALYSIS: REFRIGERATION Home Appliances

April 2023 ertonline.co.uk

Big on built-in The market for integrated home appliances is growing rapidly, with trends leaning increasingly towards complete, unbroken lines and matching cupboard fronts. Montpellier recently introduced a brand new suite of integrated refrigeration, including three undercounter models, plus a tall larder fridge and freezer, two 50/50 models and two 70/30 models. “These new products come with improved energy efficiency to provide our customers with advanced technologies that support savings on food and energy bills,” explains Andy Slingsby, Montpellier’s Product Manager. Two features on selected models include

The space race In addition to ease of use, as we move into the Summer season it’s likely that consumers will require more flexible storage facilities and larger refrigeration units. Mr Rothery says that having extra space and the ability to rearrange compartments will be attractive for storing both food as well as refreshing beverages when people are entertaining during the warmer months. AEG’s 7000 Series 186cm Freestanding Refrigerator boasts a 404-litre storage capacity, the equivalent to roughly 21 full grocery bags! But what if you need total flexibility and need to switch between refrigerator or freezer use? Well, Haier’s Cube 90 Series 7 offers just that.

Thanks to the Switch Zone you can simply switch from -18 to +5 degrees at the touch of a button. Similarly, Samsung’s latest refrigerators can also swap between fridge or freezer with the Cool Select+ feature. Once set, each section can be controlled further with the Optimal Fresh + function. New to ASKO’s range is the FN31831I

Freezer – which is completely frost-free, so the drawers occupy the entire inside space with no build-up of ice. And with a 212-litre capacity, including an extra-large 38-litre SpaceBox, there is plenty of space for larger items such as meat joints or bulky vegetables. And LG’s American-Style Fridge-Freezers (such as the GSXV91BSAE) boast storage for up to 35 shopping bags, while its range of Tall Fridge-Freezer units (the GBB92MCBAP) are well suited to smaller households. The Hisense RS818 is also a standout

product in the brand’s refrigeration portfolio, according to Mr Glynn, as it offers a larger capacity that’s perfect for bigger households. “Food shopping habits have shifted since the pandemic with the nature of

‘big food

shops’ being more convenient for families; we champion these larger appliances and continue to provide a range of smart features that are popular in the market at the moment.” Meanwhile, for that extra “wow” factor, the KFN7795D Fridge-Freezer from Miele comes with a FlexiTray glass shelf that rotates from back to front to display your culinary creations and show off to guests!

Humidity Control and Maxi-Fresh Preserver; the latter keeps food fresher by absorbing ethylene gas, an organic compound released naturally from fresh foods, and unpleasant odours from the salad crisper. Plus, Turbo Air Fan Cooling gives more even and efficient cooling across the whole compartment. Elsewhere, CDA offers similar styles – 50/50, 70/30 and built-under – in its new CRI range. Apparently this collection is designed to make fitting the exterior furniture door faster and more efficient, Marketing Manager, Holly Bolus, tells ERT. “The trend for sleek, ultra-modern kitchens has made integrated refrigeration a popular choice. And all of the new CRI appliances have excellent energy ratings, which is particularly important to consumers right now.” Rebecca Evans, Brand Manager at Miele GB,

agrees, adding that design is still a crucial part of consumers’ buying processes… “The new K7000 collection,” she points out, “matches Miele’s latest built-in cooking appliances, completing the full kitchen range. It features fingerprint-less CleanSteel back panels that distribute an even temperature, as well as a new TFT touch display and shelf lighting.” >>
