Leyland SDM raises money

for Macmillan Cancer Support Staff at painting and decorating specialists, Leyland SDM are preparing for a 5km challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. The 24-strong Leyland SDM team will join other runners and lace up their shoes for the RunThrough Hyde Park 5km on October 15. “Lords are happy to continue their long-standing sponsorship of Ealing Trailfinders rugby,” said Group acquisition & integration director, Tim Holton.

“We wish Ealing every success and hope they match last year’s achievement of winning the league & cup double. Hopefully this year, promotion to the Premiership will become a reality.

Jonathan Jennings, CEO of Leyland SDM, said: “We love overcoming challenges, particularly if it also gives back to the community. That’s why we are encouraging colleagues who have never run before to train using Couch to 5k and really challenge themselves to help Macmillan.

Parker Building Supplies employee completes fundraising trek

Stuart Chappell, an employee at Parker Building Supplies’ Uckfield branch, has completed a 60+ mile walk along the south coast, raising £3,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

Setting off from Folkestone, with an overnight stop at Rye, Chappell’s route took in Hythe, Dungeness and Camber, before heading up (and down) the hills of Hastings Country Park and along the coastal path into Eastbourne.

A seasoned fundraiser, Chappell has undertaken a number of previous challenges for Teenage Cancer Trust. As well as a wing-walk and abseil down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker tower in 2019, Stuart completed a similar trek last year. He was named as Teenage Cancer Trust’s ‘Legend of the Year’ in 2021.

Chappell said: “I am so grateful to everyone that has sponsored and supported me to raise vital funds for such a deserving

cause. I was lucky to be joined by a number of friends along the way, especially on the second day, when the route took in some tough hills. The best part was completing the final stretch accompanied by my mum, to cross the finish line at Eastbourne Pier.” Allun Pittingale, managing director, Parker Building Supplies, added: “Well done and huge congratulations to Stuart. He is a true inspiration and we are so proud of what he has achieved.”
