“Root ingress is a key example of this. It is a problem that occurs when trees are planted close to below ground pipework, and is a hidden issue that can eventually lead to blocked pipes. As roots infiltrate drainage networks in search of water, oxygen and nutrients, they cause debris like tissue paper, wipes and fats to become stuck. This ultimately leads to waste flowing more slowly or stopping altogether,” he says. Traditional methods of combatting root ingress are time-consuming, disruptive, and extremely costly for those responsible for managing pipework.
