KITCHENS

DESIGN AND FUNCTIONALITY

Bushboard, manufacturer of surfaces for kitchens and bathrooms, spoke to Anjali Sooknanan about its kitchen splashback offering with the redevelopment of its popular Alloy range.

B

ushboard has redeveloped its long- established Alloy range, to enable merchants to offer a range of cost- effective, trend-driven splashbacks, with a focus on design and functionality. Divided into Alloy Décor and Alloy Colour, the collection is comprised of 27 new designs including marble, stone, wood and industrial concrete looks. The new range has been developed to suit a range of design briefs with the added ease of versatility regardless of the shape or size of the space. The range is available in four sizes: High Rise (3000x750mm) which fills the wall behind your hob with a continuous design right up to the cooker hood with no joins, Mid Rise (3000x600mm) which fits perfectly behind sinks, Standard Hob panel (600x800mm) for use behind 60cm wide appliances and Wide Hob panel (900x800mm) for use behind 90cm wide appliances.

As the focus on bringing natural elements to the home environment continues to dominate home interior trends, Alloy Décor consists of 14 patterned designs inspired by nature, ranging from wood and stone with light and dark hues. The collection consists of 11 new designs alongside three of Bushboard’s

bestsellers featuring three different textures: Shell which is a soft matt finish, Timber which replicates the appearance of a wood finish and Pietra which is a stone inspired look. Alloy Colour is a new addition to the kitchen splashback range showcasing 16 solid colour options. The palette, ranging from light to dark with both gloss to matt finishes, is influenced by natural elements featuring the likes of Battleship Grey, Storm Blue and Seabreeze Green. With personalisation high in demand for consumers, Bushboard has added four brushed metal designs that can be used to add texture to any design.

Functionality

For installers, Alloy can be easily cut, drilled and shaped to fit the required measurements using standard tools. The splashback can be installed directly onto a pre-existing surface or on top of tiles with little preparation needed. Due to the versatility in size and shape, the panels can fit behind hobs, around cabinets and corners. In addition, Bushboard has launched matching sealants, glues and trims. As a result of its 4mm aluminium composition, every Alloy splashback is fire-resistant and has

been tested to Euroclass SBI EN1350-1. Alloy is also durable and designed to be scratch- resistant to EN 438-2-25 and abrasive resistant to EN 438-2-10

The range will be stocked nationally via Bushboard’s distribution business and the company has provided stockists with support following the launch. Point of Sale (POS) materials will be available for all stockists featuring information about the new range. In addition, Bushboard’s website has been created with easy navigation offering design inspiration, informative videos about installation and advice about product maintenance.

Elliott Fairlie, product leader at Bushboard, said: “Our new range of Alloy splashbacks was created with the latest kitchen trends in mind. We set out to create a range of splashbacks that can give forward-thinking merchants the confidence to turn to Alloy whenever they are looking to provide a solution for customers who want high- quality without the large price tag attached. “The new finishes showcase our commitment to creating products that can be offered as alternatives to traditional kitchen materials and make a wider range of designs accessible to customers. Not only do they look bold and beautiful, the splashbacks offer an option which is as easy to install as it is to maintain. We’re confident that we’ve created a wide range of innovative designs that can really bring a kitchen space together.” BMJ
