AND FINALLY
Covers Brighton supports food hub with material donation
The Brighton depot of Covers Timber & Builders Merchants has donated sheets of OSB to the Woodingdean Food Hub. The Woodingdean Food Hub was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver produce that had been donated by the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership to people who were in need.
The wooden boards donated by Covers Brighton have helped the hub to ensure it has a safe space to store tinned food. Philippa Parsons, chair of the Food Hub Committee, said: “In addition to providing food, the hub is used as a free drop-in centre to reduce loneliness – especially in elderly residents and young parents – and help prevent the potential stigma that can come from accessing charity. We have received fantastic support from local businesses and organisations, and we want to thank Covers for their generous donation. The store room floor was previously covered in pallets, which made it quite tricky to navigate, but it’s now a safe space to work and store food.”
Wade Ayling, depot manager at Covers Brighton, added: “Many families are facing difficult times, and places like Woodingdean Food Hub provides essential services. We will always try and do what we can to support organisations that are doing fantastic things in our community, and we were delighted to donate materials to help the food hub continue to provide vital assistance.”
