The majority family shareholders who established Lords have a long-standing history of charitable giving. Building on this legacy, Lords Group Trading established The Lords Group Foundation in 2021, prior to listing on AIM. The Group has committed to donating £200,000 per annum to the Foundation.

MKM steps into Christmas giving campaign

Builders merchant group MKM supported the the Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign for the 13th consecutive year in the run-up to Christmas 2022. The initiative ensures that disadvantaged children and young people nationwide will have something to open on Christmas Day.

This year, MKM’s Central Support in Hull organised five bulk bags of donated toys and Christmas goodies which were collected by the Cash for Kids bus on ahead of the big day. Rachel Constable, Head of ESG at MKM, said: “It’s fantastic to be involved in our 13th Mission Christmas campaign with Cash for

Kids. It is such a brilliant initiative that embodies what the ‘season of goodwill’ is all about. It’s been great to see so many people get involved, and we’re hoping it spreads a little Christmas magic on the 25th.”

MKM also unveiled the winner of its annual Christmas Card competition. This year’s competition was won by 11-year old Samuel from Northamptonshire. A printed version of Samuel’s design was presented to him along with £100 in gift vouchers at his nearest MKM branch, in Milton Keynes, by branch director Gordon Walker.

welcome applications from local community centres, as they have identified a lack of funding for these much used and needed community hubs.

November 2022 saw the launch event of The Lords Foundation. With cultural street food being at the heart of the venue, authentic Caribbean

food was served to guests from local vendor Caribbean Fresh, steel pan sets performed by the crew from CSI Steel Band and the bar serving up craft beers from the Portobello Brewing company.

Russell Roof Tiles brings Christmas cheer to charities

Russell Roof Tiles has brought some

much-needed festive cheer to charities close to its Burton and Lochmaben sites - donating an impressive £55,300.

The company has presented a number of its Burton charities with a £6,300 donation at their special event held at its site on Wetmore Lane, which is set to be followed by an event at its Lochmaben site. The lucky charities are Burton and District Mind, YMCA Burton, Burton Albion Community Trust, Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire Blood Bikes and Hillfield Animal Home, all of which support either the homeless, mental and physical wellbeing or animal welfare organisations.

The company has raised a total of £55,300 this year as part of its ‘Give 4 Good’ project as part of its celebrations of independence. To mark the occasion the business and its team of 160, based in Burton and Lochmaben, challenged themselves to raise £50,000 for charity, more than double what they’d ever raised before.

Tool advent calendar raises £2000 for children’s charity

Following the launch of its 2022 tool advent calendar, Draper Tools pledged to donate £1 from the sale of every calendar to the children’s charity, Cash for Kids. £2,000 was raised and it was recently presented to the charity alongside a bumper donation of toys and gifts for the charity’s Mission Christmas appeal. Cash for Kids supports families facing financial hardship. Their Mission Christmas appeal is the biggest toy appeal in the

UK and ensures that children who would have nothing at all to open on Christmas morning receive presents to enjoy. This year the appeal is set to make a real

difference to thousands of families in need across the UK. Draper Tools has been a long term supporter of Mission Christmas, with colleagues collecting toys and gifts for the appeal every year since 2014. This year, in light of the cost of living crisis and the difficult choices being faced by many families in the region, the company wanted to extend its support by raising funds through the sale of its advent calendar.

Fran Weeks, PR Manager at Draper Tools, said: “We’ve been aware of the work of this amazing charity for some time now, the team here have always loved collecting toys and gifts for Mission Christmas. So, when the time came to launch our 2022 advent calendar, we all felt it made sense to donate some of the proceeds to Cash for Kids, in recognition of the incredible work they do for local children – especially at this time of year.”
