Rednapp opens new TP branch
Football managing legend Harry Redknapp opened the new Travis Perkins branch in Bournemouth earlier this month. The former Bournemouth, Portsmouth, West Ham and Tottenham manager made a special visit to the newly relocated branch at Ashley Road. The new branch is 2.63 acres in size and features Travis Perkins Hire facilities, a Benchmarx kitchen display showroom, and hard landscaping display show- cases Travis Perkins’ offering to customers. The site includes elec- tric forklift trucks, charging points and solar panels.
Redknapp said: “They have a cracking set-up and I’ve no doubt that the new branch will become an integral part of the local com- munity, providing all the advice, materials and equipment builders and contractors could need.”
Knauf UK launches scheme for plasterboard recycling
Knauf UK and Ireland has partnered with Encore Environment to deliver an enhanced waste management service to reduce plasterboard waste. The
scheme looks to move towards
a circular economy by taking waste plasterboard and reintroducing it to the local supply chain.
According to the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), plasterboard, which is banned from landfill, can make up to a third of all waste from a fit out.
Contractors that use Knauf products and opt into the Take Back Scheme will be connected
6
to local and vetted recycling companies via Encore nationwide network. These dedicated skips will be sent to their site and, once filled, are collected and brought to specialised local centres. “This is critical, we don’t
want plasterboard being taken all over the country. It’s broken down locally and then distributed back to plasterboard manufacturers,” says Jon Watts, national client development manager UK & Ireland. “We already have something similar at Sittingbourne for local contractors. The Encore partnership opens it up nationally.”
