Jarrolds features on TV as retail success story

ndependent department store Jarrolds was featured on ITV News, showcasing how the Norwich-based retailer is thriving despite continued pressure on the high street. The segment focused on the 250-year-old family-run business’s


ability to evolve while remaining true to its heritage. Jarrolds credited much of its success to its dedicated team, whose energy and commitment help deliver the personalised shopping experience customers value. In response to the broadcast, the store publicly thanked its staff, describing them as the heart of what makes Jarrolds special.


Salamander Cookshop backs plastic-free business campaign

imborne businesses are being encouraged to reduce  initiative, backed by Wimborne BID. Salamander Cookshop, one of the town’s Plastic Free Champions, is leading by example. BID Director and Co-Owner Ione Crossley said: “Customers expect businesses to make positive environmental choices. We’re proud to support efforts from Planet Wimborne and Wimborne War on Waste to help make those changes easier.” The Plastic Free Community campaign added: “This isn’t about eliminating all plastic — it’s about breaking our dependence on single- use items and changing how products are made and consumed.”


Next to triple store size at Bluewater with homeware expansion

ext has announced plans to triple the size of its current Bluewater store by moving into the former House of Fraser site — creating one of the largest Next stores in the UK. The new 133,000 sq ft space is due to open in 2026 and will feature a  childrenswear, and an enlarged home offering. A café will also be incorporated into the store layout. James Waugh, Bluewater Centre Director, commented: “This move highlights the continued strength of bricks-and-mortar retail. We’re excited to share more details closer to the opening.” Next’s current store occupies 44,600 sq ft, making this a major investment in physical retail.


Old Railway Line Garden Centre celebrates 35th anniversary

he Old Railway Line Garden Centre is marking 35 years in business with a special thank-you gesture to its most loyal customers.


The top 35 customers over the past year were invited to a


celebration on 13 June, where the top 10 received luxury hampers worth £50, the next 10 were gifted a planted pot, and the remaining 15 were given a £20 gift card. Marketing and Ecommerce Director Joe Aldworth said: “Our


customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this was a lovely way to show our appreciation. It was wonderful to welcome so many familiar faces to mark the occasion.” The team added: “From a small family-run centre to a vibrant destination for gardeners, food lovers, and families — this anniversary is a proud milestone, and we’re excited for what lies ahead.”
