news IHA Board strategic meeting update

The IHA’s recent strategic meeting saw members of the association’s Board of Directors and several past Chairs gather together along with senior IHA staff to review results of The Inspired Home Show 2022 and to discuss strategic direction for IHA, the show and other IHA member services for 2023 and beyond.

The Board unanimously

agreed that rebuilding The Inspired Home Show back to

pre-pandemic levels will be the primary focus of the Association. The 2022 show ended with an approximate 50% turnout from exhibitors and buyers when compared to previous shows. Although the total number of US buyers was down from previous years, the quality of key retailers in attendance remained very high and verified international buyer attendance was strong. The Board identified the mostly

likely scenario for 2023 as a strong show that is larger than 2022 but smaller than 2019, with a return to pre-Covid levels perhaps taking more than one year.

The Inspired Home Show 2023

will take place at McCormick Place in Chicago on 4-7 March.

New beginnings at simplehuman

It’s the end of an era at simplehuman as commercial director Kevin Clark and national account manager Colin Bush make way for some new faces in the EMEA sales team. August 2022 will see Kevin transition to a new role looking after the Middle East and Africa, and Colin retire. Gareth Till returns to the role of retail sales director. He will work with

Andreu Autet, from Fashion International, who will become European sales manager and Sarah Whyld, from Glen Dimplex, who joins as national account manager. James Dowdeswell, operations and finance director, will take full control of the EMEA operation.

Premium cookware brand Circulon has announced Michelin-starred chef and TV personality Marcus Wareing as the new ambassador for its SteelShield range. As part of his role, Marcus will front all

Circulon SteelShield marketing activity and demonstrate how cooks can feel more confident and courageous in the kitchen when the right cookware is at hand. Marcus Wareing commented: “For me this is a true and authentic ambassadorship because my team and I use these pans in our professional kitchen every single day. There seems to be this divide in thought that you should have professional-grade pans for

working environments and off-the-shelf for the home. That simply doesn’t need to be the case when you have technology available like Circulon SteelShield, which both consumers and professionals alike can achieve great things with.

Carl Wright, marketing director at Meyer

Group Ltd, said: “Marcus is a master of his domain but is doing great things in democratising the tricks of the professional kitchen to keep people excited about what they can personally achieve. We both believe Circulon is the perfect partner for consumers to realise this and we are proud to begin this relationship and mission together.”

Petromax and Feuerhand join Whitby & Co line-up

Outdoors goods and housewares specialist Whitby & Co has announced the addition of two premium German brands to its range, Petromax and Feuerhand, offering outdoor cooking, summer BBQ’s and new lighting options. The Petromax Group is one of the leading German manufacturers of cooking and lighting equipment. Whitby has taken the exclusive UK and Ireland distributorship with immediate effect to cover the majority of products from Petromax and Feuerhand which focus on ‘fire and light, grilling and outdoor cooking.’

Commenting on the arrival of the new brands

in the line-up, Whitby & Co managing director Phil Ellwood said it was a perfect fit, not only in terms of product but also company ethos. “The Petromax philosophy is rooted in tradition, innovation and quality and that absolutely chimes with our ethos at Whitby & Co,” said Phil. “The products are exceptional quality and we felt it enhanced our current offer of brands for outdoors and cooking, like Klean Kanteen and Opinel, superbly. “We’re delighted to welcome Petromax and

Feuerhand to the Whitby & Co family. The timing also couldn’t be better, as we move into the summer months and peak camping and BBQ season.”
