In the next category, Harts of Stur took Best Online Retailer of the Year. David Conduit, purchasing director at Harts of Stur, commented: “What a joy it was to be able to celebrate alongside fellow colleagues from the housewares sector at the first Housewards Awards in two years. The icing on the cake was being named Online Retailer of the Year. It has been a challenging couple of years, and this award recognises the hard work and dedication that everyone in our company has given through these demanding times.” This was followed by Multiple Retailer of the


Year, which was presented to Lakeland, who were also a sponsor. This year’s Retailer of the Year went to Potters Cookshop, and Home Hardware left with Wholesaler of the Year. Finally, to conclude this year’s awards, Dexam was awarded Supplier of the Year. Dexam’s managing director Bryony Dyer said: “Dexam is a passion that started over 60 years ago and throughout the years, our principles have remained the same: innovation, reliability, friendliness and, above all, customer service. We are therefore delighted to have won the Supplier of the Year award 2022. It was an honour to collect the award at the ceremony in Chelsea and I’d like to thank the judges for

Judges for Retailers Abbie Beasby Voice - marketing manager, Dexam Abbie is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the brand and leads all marketing activity. She has a wealth of experience in marketing and retail having worked for various visitor attractions, including the Science Museum, promoting their stores and supporting on visual merchandising/displays. More recently as brand manager for Nespresso, she was responsible for product launches and driving the awareness and positioning of Nespresso in UK stores including John Lewis, Debenhams, and Curry’s. Emma Sutton, B2B marketing manager, RKW Emma has always had a passion for RKW since a young age after her parents founded the business in 1989. Throughout her career, she has worked in various departments and gained valuable experience across a wide range of business functions. Emma joined the


family business full-time in 2020 and now leads the company’s trade marketing activity with responsibilities for both digital and traditional B2B marketing communications. She has a strong passion in driving the continued digitalisation of RKW’s B2B marketing objectives and strategies.


Matt Sampson - Formahouse Matt Sampson has been representing iconic brands in the houseware and table industries for the past 10 years. Having worked for Robert Welch and Greenpan, Matt is currently heading the Sales department for British distributor Forma House, where he represents brands like Dreamfarm, Eva Solo, Rose & Tulipani, Keith Brymer Jones - to name a few.- and assists retailers around the country.


Mohamed Hajat - Burton McCall Mohamed Hajat is head of sales at Burton McCall, a role which involves managing a sales team to service the Home, Garden, DIY, HORECA, Outdoor & Sports Channels. In July he will be celebrating his 10 year anniversary with Burton McCall and can proudly say he is still enjoying the role and brands he represents and working with his very supportive customer base.


Stephen Fennell - Pyrex For the past 15 years, Stephen has built up a wealth of knowledge of the housewares industry which he loves and is passionate about. He joined the field sales team at Pyrex as key account manager in 2017, and manages a varied portfolio of customers, from wholesalers to small and large independent retailers. He has previously worked for Rackhams in Birmingham (House of Fraser), Fissler, T&G Woodware, Le Creuset and Kenwood Delonghi.
