storageware Tidy kitchen, tidy mind

What are the big trends in storageware this season? How are suppliers ensuring they meet consumer and thus retailer needs? Housewares investigates.

to last and function efficiently for a lifetime.”

Shannon Morgan Stearns, chief

Planet-friendly solutions “Consumers are making the switch from plastic to more sustainable storage solutions,” Abbie Bleasby-Voice, marketing manager, Dexam International told Housewares. “Steel storage has been popular the last couple of years and remains so.”

Jaccomien Klap, global head of

marketing, DKB, agrees. “Consumers are wanting longer lasting storageware, and more durable options. With shoppers becoming more eco-conscious and a rise in popularity of refill shops, there is a requirement for both functional and stylish storage that is kinder to the environment. “Consumers are also looking to brands with a strong heritage, brands they feel they can trust, as they know they will be buying products that have been designed

executive officer, Stasher, commented: “With the fight against plastic pollution continuing to dominate news headlines, general consumers are also becoming hyper aware of sustainable issues, spurring a significant change in product awareness and purchasing patterns. As such, consumers are more mindful of what they’re buying and are actively working towards limiting food waste, shopping more cost-consciously and buying more sustainable storageware. Therefore, brands need to ensure that sustainability is considered every step of the way throughout their supply chain.” Stasher’s mission is to create a waste-

free environment by creating radically functional products that inspire everyone to eliminate single-use plastic. What started as just a single, reusable silicone bag in 2016 has evolved into a product ecosystem of a variety of shapes and sizes, in a rainbow of colours that are perfect for storing, stashing and saving what matters.

Kitchen beautiful Storageware needs to be more than just functional - with open shelving a key kitchen trend, it needs to work double-time and be a design feature as well. “An overall trend for home organisation

is still very much part of the season and going forward,” explained Jaccomien. “Following on from the pandemic, where people were spending more time at home and eating out less, the storage of food and dry goods has become more of a priority, and people want to be able to style their storageware and have it proudly on

“There is a rising trend in turning ordinary cupboards, fridges and kitchen worktops into works of art with the use of glass storage,” said Abbie. “Glass is a non-porous material that prevents the accumulation of dirt and bacteria susceptible to plastic. It is infinitely re-useable and by being able to see what’s inside, it can reduce food waste. Our Scion Living by Dexam Mr Fox glass storage lends itself perfectly to this trend in organised pantry cupboards. Available in 1100ml, 1300ml and 2000ml sizes, the storage jars are made from durable borosilicate glass.” The inspiration for the Scion range is the clean lines of Scandi design. “The ‘drawn’ shape, with no seam on the side or on the bottom, was specifically chosen to minimise dirt accumulation,” explained Abbie. “The new glass storage range, depicting the iconic Mr Fox motif, is the perfect way to bring a little bit of fun into your kitchen. We’ve brought the same level of detail to these that we do across our steel range and have replicated the use of the Mr Fox motif etched into the bamboo lid.”

display too. “The last few years ignited the chef in

many, a trend which has now become a habit, and more so than ever the kitchen is a much used and valued heart of the home! Shelf styling and visible storageware allows for a bit of fun and personalisation within the kitchen, whilst making it work as hard as possible for your lifestyle, family situation and general daily needs.
