Bakeware is selling like hot cakes, says What More UK

Retailers are selling bakeware as fast as the shelves can be stocked, according to What More UK.

The Lancashire housewares manufacturer, which supplies bakeware brands Baker & Salt enamel oven trays and Push Pan cake tins, has set up night shifts to keep up with demand. Director Tony Grimshaw OBE said: “There

are two types of people in the UK at the moment: there are those at home on furlough looking for things to do, and those working harder than ever to make up for staffing restrictions. “If you’ve got time on your hands, and the

kids are off school, home baking is the perfect activity. Making a loaf of bread requires time and patience, but the end product is easily worth the effort.” What More UK also produces the home

storage brand Wham and manufactures many other products under licence such as supermarket own labels. It won the Service Award: Supplier category of the Housewares Innovation Awards 2020.

Geoff Gorst moves on from Meyer

After working for housewares supplier Meyer for 31 years, business development director Geoff Gorst has decided it is time “to take life a bit easier”.

Gorst commented: “Having commuted each week away from my home in Scotland for the last 16 years, this decision will enable me to focus the time and energy on my home life, family and health in a way that has not been possible during my recent career.” For many years Gorst sat on Meyer’s

board, initially as UK sales director, and for the past six years as business development director for the EMEA region. “I’ve had a wonderful career at Meyer. The company supported me throughout all of my 31 years with them. As I look at the strengths of the team today, and the new innovation it continues to bring to market, I know the company will only continue to grow from strength to strength.”

Gorst left his role at the end of June.
