Address: Vent-Axia, Fleming Way, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9YX Tel: +44 (0)344 856 0590 Email: projectorders@vent-axia.com Web: https://www.vent-axia.com/

1.Provide a short introduction to your company? Vent-Axia invented the fi rst electrically-operated window ventilator in 1936. Boasting over 85 years’ experience, Vent-Axia is the ventilation sector’s clear leader, chief innovator and forerunner in energy-saving, lo-carbon products. Improving indoor air sustainably, Vent-Axia is committed to helping improve both indoor air quality (IAQ) and comfort in homes and commercial buildings.

2. Product details The Sentinel Apex range is the next generation in commercial heat recovery systems. Designed to supply the indoor environment with fresh, healthy, fi ltered air providing improved IAQ, while maintaining exceptional energy recovery, market- leading SFP and low noise levels. With fi ve sizes in the range, delivering airfl ows up to 4000m3/h, it is ideal for a wide range of settings, such as schools, offi ces, hotels and restaurants. The focus is on enhancing IAQ and comfort for occupants, while reducing energy consumption, carbon emissions, and running costs.

3. Other products available from your company Vent-Axia is the marketing-leading ventilation manufacturer providing the sector’s most comprehensive choice from any single manufacturer. Vent-Axia’s range covers not just air movement and ventilation technologies but heat recovery, electric heating, hand dryers, cooling and clean-air systems for residential, commercial, public sector and industrial applications.

4. What are the energy effi ciency benefi ts? The Sentinel Apex range off ers market-leading SFPs with up to 93% energy recovery, the Apex harnesses waste heat ensuring it is reused effi ciently. Other energy-saving advantages include: ¡ Integral automatic summer bypass designed to provide free cooling when available whilst eliminating additional pressure loss and power consumption whilst in operation; ¡ Motor effi ciency equivalent to or better than IE5; ¡ Demand control-optimising IAQ while minimising ventilation energy consumption.

5. How do you simplify installation and maintenance? To simplify maintenance the Sentinel Apex unit is designed for easy access to core components in-situ. Side and bottom access panels, which are removable, allow access and removal of the heat recovery cell and all core components. A lockable isolator is fi tted to the control panel preventing accidental operation during maintenance, improving safety.

6. How does your company align with Net Zero goals? Vent-Axia is committed to providing healthy indoor air while driving a low-carbon future. Vent-Axia has clear sustainability targets, 70% of its sales revenue to be from low carbon products and a target of 90% of the plastic it uses in its own manufacturing to be from recycled sources by the end of FY2025. Vent-Axia aims to be Net Zero by 2040, 10 years ahead of the Government’s 2050 Net-Zero target. UK-manufactured with a short supply chain, the

Apex is also designed to have a low embodied carbon footprint. Vent-Axia has used the CIBSE TM65 data collection methodology to collect accurate, detailed embodied carbon information making it easier for specifi ers designing low-carbon sustainable buildings to select the best products in the market. The design ensures all core components are easily accessed on- site for maintenance or servicing, extending the life of the unit. The Apex can also be repurposed to suit any change of building use, or recycled. By using Vent- Axia’s online Fan Selector specifi ers can select fans to exact duty points eliminating the need to over specify, this delivers further energy and cost savings.

7. How do you comply with standards/regulations? The Sentinel Apex is designed to deliver excellent performance in energy effi ciency and thermal comfort requirements of BB101, and is fully compliant with Part F and L 2021 edition’s performance and SFP requirements.

8. Describe what sets your company apart? The multi-award-winning Sentinel Apex is marketing- leading delivering the highest level IAQ and thermal comfort with the lowest energy and noise levels. Off ering up to 93% heat recovery effi ciency (EN308), ultra-low sound levels, (independently tested/verifi ed by SRL Technical Services Limited), and low SFP, resulting in signifi cant performance improvements. Intuitive controls are compatible with Vent-Axia’s range of Sentinel-X Sensors, allowing easily confi gurable set points ensuring optimised IAQ, in line with Part F of the Building Regulations, while also minimising ventilation energy consumption Vent-Axia’s Sentinel Apex also simplifi es

specifi cation providing a number of features as standard including: ePM10 50% extract and ePM1 70% supply fi lters (M5/F7 equivalent) – helping provide good IAQ; easy maintenance to fi lters and core components; summer bypass, designed and sized so no performance loss; double-skin construction with acoustic infi ll for class-leading acoustic properties; frost protection via electric heater; airfl ow-control methodologies; integral condensate pump; and a user-friendly App provides easy commissioning; as well as providing fault/warning messages in plain English rather than fault code.

Case Study V

ent-Axia has supplied its CIBSE award winning Sentinel Apex to provide ventilation for ECO MEP’s highly-

effi cient commercial offi ce environment in Ashford, Kent. ECO MEP is a commercial contractor focused on delivering sustainable solutions to customers, making this next generation of commercial heat recovery ventilation, the ideal ventilation solution for its own offi ces. Committed to creating a carbon negative operational workplace for its staff and visitors, ECO MEP modelled their new building’s usage requirements before specifying the Sentinel Apex to deliver energy effi cient ventilation with heat recovery, while providing excellent IAQ, ultra-low sound levels and good thermal comfort.

Paul Hooker, owner and managing director of ECO MEP commented, “Energy effi ciency is at the heart of everything we do for our customers, so for our own new workplace, we wanted to demonstrate the capability of today’s products in delivering carbon neutral buildings in operation, and hopefully inspire others”. The new ECO MEP headquarters are located in a two-storey new-build industrial unit. Their Cat B fi t-out objectives were to specify only the most effi cient products in all areas. On the ground fl oor of the unit there are a variety of rooms including a meeting room, break out area, storage space, a kitchen, toilets and a shower. Due to the diverse nature of rooms, including wet rooms, a controlled mechanical ventilation solution was needed to meet ventilation requirements. As experts in their industry, ECO MEP, were aware of the features of the Apex, including the unit’s effi ciency rating of up to 93% heat recovery. Other factors that were important to the company included the Apex’s integral air quality sensors, dynamically controlled CO2 levels, and automatic summer bypass – which provides free cooling during the warmer months.
