Social housing goes green

I

mproving energy efficiency in social housing is a complex challenge that demands more than simple upgrades. Rising fuel costs, ageing building

stock, and new regulations like the Social Housing Act and Awaab’s Law are putting pressure on housing providers to respond. But the complex nature of decarbonising social housing means there is no one- size-fits-all solution and this often means addressing building fabric, ventilation, renewable energy, heating systems, and smart energy management as a whole. Heating engineers undoubtedly play a crucial role in helping the sector to deliver low-carbon, reliable HVAC solutions that meet regulatory demands, reduce emissions, and improve living conditions for tenants now and in the future. Our Social Housing feature addresses

the complexity of the sector from a number of different angles: • How regulations are driving more efficient repairs and maintenance (Pg26); • The need for a co-ordinated whole

system approach (Pg28); • The role of heating engineers in guiding housing associations to efficiency (Pg29). Other features this month include:

Regulation & Compliance, Renewable Energy and Water Treatment.
