new management team will be in place at Bundy Germany in 2021, to make way for a smooth transition after the retirement of the company’s long-standing head of research and development.

SRIA chairman Tom Smith has announced the appointment of Tom Garrigan as the new BSRIA


technical director.


Mr Garrigan joined BSRIA in 2007 as a test engineer and has gained broad experience in the sector, becoming business manager for the BSRIA Test House in 2015. He maintains a distinguished profile in the sector and is well known for his expertise in the UK and Overseas. Mr Smith said: “BSRIA is delighted with Tom’s appointment and looks forward to his continued prominence and impact on the sector.” Julia Evans, BSRIA chief executive, said: “Tom will be a welcome member of the team and brings with him not only innate professionalism and knowledge but also insightful views of BSRIA’s future.”


Mr Garrigan said: “I am honoured to take on this important role for BSRIA and for the sector. I look forward to taking BSRIA forward into the forthcoming challenges presented by its strategic agenda.”


Jörg Kirchner will retire in the second half of 2021, having served Bundy in Germany for over three decades. A dedicated engineer, Mr Kirchner is credited as the brains behind Bundy’s innovative wing tube technology and has recently succeeded in gaining patents on many of the company’s revolutionary technical products.


Mr Kirchner began his career as a production engineer before starting his own company in Bleicherode as well as a joint venture with Kenmore international, working on wire and tube condenser production in Germany, China and Turkey.


Bill Esler.


Kirchner became director of product development for Bundy in 2011, having created a large number of patents covering wing tube technology, which provides significant operational benefits to refrigeration units including easier maintenance and reduced energy usage.


The new management team will be led by Bill Esler, who is experienced in engineering, technology and finance, along with Sascha Wieland, Andy Listemann and Sven Rothhagen who have all been with Bundy Germany for many years.


Mr Esler commented: “Jörg and his team have done an excellent job over the last 12 years, particularly with regard to innovation and new patented products and Bundy Germany is now a vital and dynamic part of the Bundy group. The last year has been incredibly difficult, and I am very grateful to everyone at Bundy Germany for the way they have faced unprecedented circumstances. “Our focus is to continue to work in partnership with our customers to deliver the essential products that make market leading refrigeration brands. That also means developing our innovative wing tube technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce maintenance cycles.”

artin Büchsel has been appointed to chief sales and marketing officer at Bitzer as of 1 April 2021. He will be replacing Gianni Parlanti who is resigning from the position and returning to his home country as managing director of Bitzer Italia at his own request. Mr Büchsel has held leading positions at various companies


belonging to the Freudenberg Group in Germany, France and the USA since 2003. In 2012, he started to work for EagleBurgmann Germany, which has been active in sealing technology for rotating and static equipment for 125 years. EagleBurgmann is a subsidiary of the Freudenberg Group. He held different positions there, including his latest role of vice president sales and marketing. He studied business administration and mechanical engineering.
