Panasonic has new distributor for cold chain solutions
P
anasonic UK has a new UK distributor for its Cold Chain CO2
and experienced refrigeration company
Hawco, which will now stock Panasonic’s full range of natural CO2
condensing refrigeration units for
the UK market. Martin Butler, managing director of Hawco, commented: “We were conscious that from 2022, all new condensing units used for refrigeration will need to be installed using a refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of 150 or less. In practice, only a handful of refrigerants meet this criterion, with R744 (CO2
) being the condensing units - specialist
most appealing for most commercial cold room applications. “Given this, we have been looking for a commercial refrigeration solution that meets these new requirements to offer our customers a
futureproof offering. The Panasonic Cold Chain CO2 Condensing unit range uses a natural refrigerant with a GWP equal to one as opposed to the current refrigerant typically used such as R404A having a GWP equal to 3,922.”
Hawco was first established 45 years ago and its team offers design and in-depth product knowledge, helping customers to improve
Fujitsu races to support UK cycling team
efficiency, minimise energy consumption and move to lower GWP refrigerants. Alfredos Armaos, UK country manager, added: “We welcome Hawco on board as a UK distributor of our Cold Chain CO2
Condensing Units. This will
help us and our customers across the UK embrace the changing world of refrigeration and help to minimise future risk to businesses, CO2
the best way to go for refrigeration needs.” The Panasonic range of CO2
seems to be condensing units has
been in development for more than 10 years – and over 10,000 units have been installed worldwide. With changes to the F-Gas regulations coming
into force alongside reducing carbon emissions and energy costs becoming key drivers for change in refrigeration systems, both specifiers and end users are recognising the need to consider CO2
refrigerant.
UK distributor adds another link to Denmark

ompetitors in the Arctic Aircon Racing Team has had a record year, excelling in multiple cycling disciplines. The team, which is sponsored by Fujitsu, have had a record year; the Arctic
Aircon Racing Team has achieved a new UK competition team record for the 100-mile time trial distance, individual and team wins in time trials on the road, plus fifth place in the Pan-Celtic 1,500-mile unsupported individual race by rider, Neil Lauder. Having set the bar high in 2019, the team are anticipating next season where they will attempt to add an even more notorious award to their collection. Team rider, Stewart House, has the honour of organising the British National Hill Climb Championships in October 2020, which will take place in Streatley, on the Berkshire/ Oxfordshire border. This annual race, which was first held in 1944, is hosted in a different UK location each year. Participants compete in the hope of joining the list of previous winners, including Malcolm Elliot and Chris Boardman, who has taken the top spot four times. Giles Pratt, area business development manager, Fujitsu General Air Conditioning UK, said: “We are proud to provide support to such a successful team in a sport that requires such teamwork and dedication, adding to the already valued partnership we have with Arctic Aircon.”
umidity Solutions has become the exclusive UK distributor for Denmark based Cotes, manufacturers of desiccant dehumidifiers. At a meeting at the Royal Danish Embassy in London members from both companies met to discuss the opportunities this new agreement will offer both companies.
John Barker, managing director of Humidity Solutions and Peter Lange, export sales manager for Cotes, met with Per Andersen from the Embassy’s commercial section for this discussion. Mr Lange stated: “We are delighted to have Humidity Solutions to represent us in the UK, and look forward to working with their team to provide specialist dehumidification solutions to their customers.” Mr Barker added: “The Cotes range allows us to further develop our dehumidification business in the UK and we are confident not only in the quality of the products, but also the back up and support we will receive from the manufacturer in all our projects. We look forward to working with the Cotes team.” The new agreement will strengthen Humidity Solutions’ links with Denmark as the company is also the UK distributor for Airtec, as well as the fact that the UK is currently Denmark’s fourth largest trading partner. Whilst Humidity Solutions already has extensive experience in dehumidification applications some markets are seeing significant expansion due to technological and environmental developments. Lithium-ion battery production, for example, is a rapidly expanding sector where very precise environmental conditions are crucial and relative humidity levels of less than one percent are required. In meat, poultry and fishing processing, condensation and humidity in the air encourages bacteria, micro- organisms and other pathogens to thrive and therefore dehumidification is essential to secure the meticulous hygiene standards required. Per Andersen commented: “The Embassy’s Commercial Section assisted Cotes during a lengthy search process for the best possible British partner, so we are confident that they are now in good hands. Humidity Solutions already has a long history of representing Danish technology in the UK, and we are delighted that Cotes has now been added to their product portfolio.”
