ollowing the continued expansion of the Daikin Group with the acquisition of the AHT


Group in November 2018, Daikin UK has undergone a change in its leadership.


strategy to strengthen its business within the refrigeration market by building on AHT’s expertise in high efficiency refrigeration and freezing systems for supermarkets and convenience stores. This acquisition aligns with Daikin’s vision of continually investing in energy efficient technologies, while focusing on social responsibility issues such as diminishing food waste throughout the cold chain.


Angela McGinlay, previously managing director of Daikin Air Conditioning Portugal (DAPT), has taken on the role of managing director of Daikin UK, while Martin Krutz is returning to Austria as chief executive officer of the AHT Group. Ms McGinlay has been managing director of Daikin Portugal since 2016, where she has steered the company through three years of rapid expansion. A transition period throughout March and April will ensure a successful hand-over between the business leaders. Wim De Schacht, vice president of Daikin Europe NV said: “I have absolute confidence in Angela McGinlay’s ability to lead Daikin onwards to even greater successes. For Martin too, this represents an exciting new challenge, but one that we are sure he is more than equal to.”

Together with Daikin’s 2016 acquisition of the Zanotti Group, which specialises in commercial, industrial and transport refrigeration equipment, this latest acquisition aims to consolidate Daikin’s global leadership within the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry.


Waterloo Air Products, a market leader in the manufacture of ventilation grilles, diffusers, weather louvres and VAV systems, has announced the appointment of Andy Wardle as head of national sales.


Waterloo’s continued growth and the appreciation that many customers work on a national basis.


The new role will act as a catalyst for the creation of framework agreements, centralised purchasing and the creation of a national account to provide an enhanced customer experience. Part of this will be the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) to streamline the process across the supply chain and operations, as well as the application of technology across the Waterloo product portfolio.


The appointment also comes at a time when Waterloo is moving to an integrated product proposition, enabling a more efficient specification process amongst the company’s key audiences including architects, consultants, contractors and building owners.


Alec Stilling has been appointed as refrigerant specialist A-Gas’ head of sales for its UK Wholesale division. Mr Stilling joins Bristol-based A-Gas from Carter Synergym where he managed a team in the service sector and worked closely with supermarket retailers.


Previously territory manager for the North of England, Mr Wardle has been at Waterloo for 13 years and has over 34 years’ experience in air distribution.


His appointment reflects


His new role at A-Gas will see him maintaining and growing relationships with major wholesalers. Mr Stilling said: “I am delighted to be a part of the fast-expanding A-Gas business at a time of great change in the industry. The F-Gas Regulations continue at a pace and helping customers make the switch to lower GWP refrigerants, and get the benefits associated with reclaimed gases, will be high on my agenda. I shall be working closely


with wholesalers across the UK to ensure that the needs of customers are met.”


Supplier of warehouse HVAC systems Jet Environmental has expanded its engineering team to support the year-on-year growth the business is on track to deliver. Jason Hibbs, Jet Environmental’s managing director, said: “The growth we are currently experiencing is forecast to continue. It is imperative that we build the right team to address the current activity and prepare ourselves for the future. “We pride ourselves on designing exceptional HVAC solutions and providing outstanding customer service; to continue to do that we need to introduce new talent.” The Jet Environmental team designs, manufactures, installs and maintains systems which control temperature and humidity in open plan industrial and commercial warehouses.


Sarah Martin has joined the Jet Environmental contracts team as a contracts engineer, and will manage the fulfilment of projects throughout the UK.


The design team has seen the addition of Jonathan Olatunbosun, a graduate who recently completed his MSc in Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham University.


Mr Hibbs concluded: “It’s great to see the Jet Environmental family grow with new talent. Both Sarah and Jonathan bring new ideas and skills. I am particularly encouraged that we have secured young and incredibly bright engineers that will become the future of our business.”
