After a six-week project, the final boxes were supplied across stores nationwide. Read more on the Converterwebsite

Manufacturers must turn ambition into action to drive Industry 4.0 value

While most manufacturers are investing in Industry 4.0 capabilities few have achieved the scale and integration needed to drive enterprise value, according to KPMG’s report ‘Beyond the hype: Separating ambition from reality in Industry 4.0’. The report finds that while many manufacturers are working towards

creating the ‘factory of the future’ or digital enterprise, few have worked out how to apply those capabilities across all of the corners of their operations. Most are still experimenting with discrete pilots or trialling solutions. “UK manufacturers have shown more enthusiasm than preparedness

for Industry 4.0 and our latest report reflects that this is a global trend,” notes Stephen Cooper, head of industrial manufacturing at KPMG UK. Read more on the Converter website

FINAT European Label Forum Skymark celebrates 30 years of success and innovation

This year’s European Label Forum saw management across the value chain come together to review and debate the past year’s developments. It took place in Berlin, June 7-9, and was

organised by the international label industry association FINAT. The label industry strongly recovered from the global economic

recession, with self-adhesive labelstock consumption growing in Europe at a cumulative 22.9 per cent between 2010 and 2016. While 72 per cent of brand owners, surveyed in FINAT’s latest (2016) edition of the European RADAR market analysis, stated that they would not be migrating from a core technology choice of self-adhesive labels. FINAT’s RADAR analysis also suggested that about 10 per cent of

European label market sales revenue is produced digitally. Combining presentations, workshops, a tabletop exhibition, networking

opportunities and a lively social programme, the FINAT European Label Forum “represented a valuable starting-grid for the European label industry’s growth and profitability,” said Jules Lejeune, FINAT managing director.
