Slitting & Rewinding

Laminazione progresses with Achenbach OPTIFOIL Technology investment

L

aminazione Sottile, one of the major producers of aluminium, located in Caserta, Italy, has

recently placed an order for a new Achenbach OPTIFOIL HeavySlit foil- slitting machine, type HGS 18/08, with Achenbach Buschhütten. This investment has been made so that

production can be expanded in the field of finstock products and flexible water pipes. A decision was made to invest in

Achenbach OPTIFOIL technology in order to guarantee the continued quality of Laminazione Sottile’s products. There was particular interest in its single contact roller technology, which grants both the reduction of scrap (loose side slits) and a better winding quality of narrow finished rolls. The new foil-slitting machine will slit aluminium strip of different alloys, strip widths of up to 1,700mm and strip thicknesses between 50 and 450µm into narrow finished rolls. The technology will not only be used as a primary material or starting material for heat exchangers (finstock), but also in the production of flexible, multilayer alu-pex water pipes and for automotive products such as heat
