WATER Mrs Clow contends: “Gone is the

queue at the kettle waiting for a small amount of water to boil as an instant hot tap produces 10-15 cups of tea/coffee or more instantly. These Hot Taps are also now being promoted into the domestic marketplace with a growing number of brands available.

Bristan's Rapid 3 in 1 Instant Hot Water Tap

Hot water system provision and installations by means of a Hot Tap or a Water Boiler in the office environment have also seen a sharp rise in installations

ability to deliver large amounts of instant hot water, reducing downtime for employees and therefore increasing overall productivity throughout a working day. Where once the taps were seen as a high-end luxury, they have

become more affordable and accessible to the mass market. And, from an efficiency perspective, boiling water taps use

minimal energy compared to a traditional kettle, and as they only ever dispense as much water as is necessary, they are seen as being much more efficient too.

Water dispensers go smart

In the age of technological advancements, more and more devices are becoming super smart, and now even the water dispenser has some technical clout. While 2019 heralded the genesis of water machines capable

of two-way communication, 2020 is seeing them go from strength to strength. Sensors on these ground-breaking machines transmit valuable

information using SIM connectivity or Wi-Fi. From an internet portal, easily accessed from any PC or

phone, real time data such as dispensed volumes, filter usage, CO2 levels and unit status can be viewed. This data can also be analysed in graphic form for simplified

management. There are email alerts for regular maintenance and warnings for technical issues meaning routine maintenance can be planned with confidence and routes optimised to minimise service miles. On more advanced units, it’s even

possible to run remote real-time diagnostic and then view and modify parameters to resolve problems remotely. This remote modification capability means

that emergency call-outs and downtime are minimised as is the cost of servicing, while customer satisfaction levels climb higher.

One company that is offering this IoT-enabled future is Zerica.

All six of its touchscreen HoReCa models use IoT platform AUXILIA to take control, manage and service the installed base remotely. The plumbed in models offer

chilled sparkling or still, plus hot water and are considered highly sustainable using no plastic. They are described as offering energy efficient cooling and heating technologies with ample clearance for refillable bottles/cups/jugs. All models accept mobile enabled payments too.
