HydroClean. Bosch showcased its range, from home security

to kitchen and household appliances, for the first time at IFA 2022. The company used the event in Berlin to

introduce the latest technologies from its wide portfolio of product categories, which were promoted in the framework of its #LikeABosch campaign at IFA 2022. Harald Friedrich, managing director of Bosch Hausgeräte, used his presentation to take the audience on a dawn-to-dusk tour of the smart home as seen by Bosch, starting off with the Door/ Window Contact II and II Plus, promising energy efficiency and security in one. Attendees were then transported to the

breakfast table where the Unlimited 7 ProHygienic Aqua is there to clean the “kitchen battleground,” Mr Friedrich said. Combining mopping and vacuuming, the product removes dust and stains in a time-saving manner. Another innovation highlighted during the

presentation, Cookit from Bosch prepares simple and fresh food for lunch with the choice of three cooking modes including guided, automatic, and manual. Recipes can be shared with the Home Connect app, while the new integrated Series 6 dishwasher is on hand to clean up. Aiming to make ‘afternoon laundry’ more

time- and energy-efficient, the Bosch premium washing machines in Series 8 not only belong to the highest energy efficiency class A, but even undercut its requirement by an additional 20%. This is made possible, in part, by highly efficient

water management thanks to the latest i-DOS automatic dosing system which automatically ensures perfect dosing for each wash cycle, protecting both fabrics and skin. Not to be undone by its stablemate, Michael

Mehnert, managing director of Siemens Home Appliances since April this year, used his presentation at IFA 2022 to unveil the company’s new brand identity and product innovations. During his presentation, Mr Mehnert said the company has revealed a “new way of living” which serves as the inspiration behind the brand’s latest technologies. The new Siemens EQ900 fully automatic

espresso machine where everything from temperature to quantity can be adjusted manually. Siemens also launched the new Smart Kitchen Dock. Mr Mehnert introduced the iQ700 Duo for

laundry as “the Siemens highlight this year”. The machine can wash up to 65% faster and dry

up to 35% faster, with Mini Load and smartFinish features. Meanwhile, the iQ700 oven uses AI to achieve results according to individual tastes. Samsung highlighted its updated and

improved SmartThings feature, which promises to unlock new possibilities and potential across Samsung’s product categories. “We’re here to do the SmartThings, by

connecting devices like never before and making them truly smart,” said Benjamin Braun, chief marketing officer and vice president at Samsung Europe. “It’s all about making life easier.” The SmartThings platform has been integrated

across many of Samsung’s product categories, with around 40 Samsung home appliances that are SmartThings-enabled, including ovens, TVs and washing machines. “If someone rings my Ring doorbell, I see who it is on my Samsung TV and my Family Hub refrigerator, or on my foldable Samsung phone when I’m out and about,” Mr Braun said.. Haier said it aims to “exceed customer

expectations”, as it unveiled new products from the company’s three brands, Haier, Candy and Hoover. “We are proud to be the biggest home appliance company in the world for the sixth year in a row, with 16.3% market share,” said Yannick Fierling, chief executive of Haier Europe. Mr Fierling proceeded to demonstrate the

many ways in which Haier Europe dominates the market, with impressive statistics to back it up. “One cooling product, one washing machine

product, one freezer product out of five in the world is a Haier product,” he said. AEG unleashed a wave of innovation with

energy saving washing machines and a microplastic filter. The premium brand from Electrolux presented its latest innovations including the AEG laundry

Beko’s parent company CEO calls for immediate action to combat climate change

Arçelik chief executive Hakan Bulgurlu started his keynote address at IFA 2022, by telling the audience: “You won’t like what you’re going

to hear.”

He set the scene for his address by mentioning Europe’s worst drought in centuries, the Rhine at its lowest level in generations and the Arctic warming four times faster than the rest of the world. Mr Bulgurlu noted that demand for appliances is growing by the day, with 3.6 billion cooling devices (air conditioners, refrigerators, freezers) in the world. By 2050, that number could be as much as 14 billion. “We cannot cope with the energy demand of 3.6 billion cooling appliances today, how are we going to cope with 14 billion in the future unless we change completely,” he said. In 2019, before the global pandemic, Mr

Bulgurlu climbed Mount Everest to help raise awareness for climate change. “Tackling climate change is one hell of a mountain to climb,” he said, “but as my experience has taught me, even the tallest peak is possible to overcome.” Mr Bulgurlu said: “We have to limit global

warming to 1.5oC by the end of the century, nothing else matters.

collection at IFA 2022. The company said a new add-on filter catches

up to 90% of microplastic fibres released by synthetic clothing. Chris Braam, chief executive of Electrolux

Europe, said: “IFA plays an important role in putting a spotlight on innovation and it’s great to be back here.”

Liebherr showcased its latest appliances with

high levels of energy efficiency, freshness solutions and smart technologies at IFA 2022 under the motto ‘Shaping the future of freshness’. Liebherr said it is the first brand to produce

freezers with a vacuum-perlite-technology. The company’s innovation is called BluRoX and ensures a particularly energy-efficient insulation, with energy efficiency class “A” and “B”. BluRoX uses a vacuum in combination with

finely ground lava rock, so-called perlite, for insulation instead of the conventional foam elements. This combo creates an unsurpassed energy-efficient and at the same time compact solution for cold insulation, the company says.
