A P Taylor is the UK’s largest reverse logistics company with exclusive contracts with some of the country’s leading retailers and manufacturers. Simon King met Ross Taylor, managing director of the business, to find out more about the company and its work

lan Taylor, who had worked at the Electrolux factory in Luton, founded


A P Taylor in 1997, following the closure of the factory. Ross Taylor, who joined the family business


after working in business banking, said: “We are a very unique company; Electrolux was one of the


biggest local employees over in Oaklea Road, where the factory used to produce all of the vacuum cleaners and white goods. “My dad, Alan, had been made redundant when Electrolux closed the factory, and he had worked in product returns. Once they did that, they did not realise what they were going to do


with returns.” Before heading off to his retirement, Alan was


asked if he could manage the returns for three months in the old factory before it got knocked down. Ross said: “Electrolux advised him to start his own business and said it would pay him at the
