hile the media is focused on the shenanigans surrounding Liz Truss,
who at the time of writing this is still the Prime Minister, households and businesses are concerned on what the cost of living crisis will mean for them. Independent electrical retailers have invested in
long-term sustainability measures to become more energy effi cient but now, faced with rising prices, fi rms of all sizes across the country are examining every available measure to cut their bills. Currys, for example, plans to turn down the

enjoyed my visit to meet Matt and Steve Tonks at Tonwood Home Hardware in Holbeach, Lincolnshire. Symphony installed 10 kitchens in the store and, since the end of July, the retailer has sold four kitchens so far and has seven strong leads. The team at IER is also pleased to launch the IER
Awards 2023 in this issue – entries are now open, so take time, prepare your entry and send it to us before the deadline. We have launched several new categories this year, around the key topics of smart technology, sustainability and corporate social responsibility. This issue of IER is published alongside a supplement celebrating the 20th anniversary of leading distributor EPE International; congratulations to Noel Pamment, Harry Singh and the rest of the EPE International team for reaching this key milestone – and here’s to the next 20 years.
