Haier retains major appliances top spot for 11th year E

uromonitor International, the global leader in consumer market research, has revealed that Haier is the number one

brand globally in major appliances in 2019. It is the 11th consecutive time the company, headquartered in Qingdao, China but with a UK base in Woking, has achieved the top spot, having held the position since 2009. The accolade follows Haier's ongoing efforts to gain a global foothold by consolidating world-leading brands into its portfolio while accelerating its revolutionary IoT ecosystem. Compiled annually by Euromonitor International, a leading global

provider of business intelligence, the report ranks the world's appliance brands by retail sales value. In addition to listing first for major global appliances, Haier ranked first for refrigerators for 12 consecutive years, in washing machines for nine years, in freezers for ten years and in wine coolers for 11 years. Wang Ye, vice president and general manager of smart home at Haier Home Appliance Industry Group, said: "We are honoured to be the world's top major appliances brand for the 11th year in a row. “Haier is constantly striving to listen to consumers' changing needs and adapt to them, while simultaneously harnessing cutting-edge technology

to stand out in the market.”

Haier's dominance in home appliances is a result of an ongoing commitment to R&D and its ability to adapt its business model to the latest technology and consumer trends.

Raft of appointments for Whirlpool W

hirlpool UK Appliances Limited recently announced the

appointment of Charmaine Warner to Brand Manager for Whirlpool, while Lee Collett has been appointed to the position of Kitchen Channel Director. Charmaine joined Indesit Company in 2014 as National Account Manager, managing the relationship with major retailer Tesco and the white goods range on its non-food e-commerce platform. Charmaine maintained this role after the acquisition of Indesit Company by Whirlpool UK Appliances Ltd and introduced the Whirlpool brand to Tesco. In 2018, Charmaine joined the marketing department in her role as Refrigeration Trade Marketing Manager. This role included being responsible for Hotpoint, Indesit and Whirlpool refrigeration, introducing new products and ranges, in addition to liaising with the brand teams to meet the company objectives. Charmaine says of her new appointment:

“Through my previous roles within the industry, I have gained an insight into a number of different areas, including buying and marketing, which I believe will be really beneficial in my new role as Brand Manager for Whirlpool.
