One Click LCA partners Recolight to

decarbonise lighting O

ne Click LCA, a leading provider of life-cycle assessment (LCA) and environmental product declaration (EPD) soſt ware, has entered into a strategic reseller partnership with Recolight, the operator of one of the UK’s largest Reuse and Recycling Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) compliance schemes.

The partnership follows the launch of One Click LCA’s Luminaires EPD Generator, a tool to streamline the creation of EPDs for lighting products.

The strategic partnership aims to off er expertise, guidance and world-leading LCA

and EPD technology to the lighting industry. By generating LCAs and EPDs, lighting manufacturers will better understand the carbon impact of their products and satisfy increasing specifi er and client requirements for achieving green certifi cations like BREEAM, LEED, Net Zero and more.

By partnering with One Click LCA, Recolight

can off er its members and other industry stakeholders access to world-leading software - already used by several lighting manufacturers - that simplifi es the process of creating accurate and credible LCAs and EPDs for their products.

Grenfell report prompts call for enhanced building safety

U

K cable manufacturer Wrexham Mineral Cables (WMC), has called for better building safety standards through the use of fi re survival cables. The call to action comes as the industry

refl ects on the 1,700-page Grenfell Inquiry report, which sets out how ‘decades of failure’ across government and the construction sector led to Grenfell Tower becoming a site of tragic loss of life.

WMC says the industry reform must include a new standard that enables architects and specifi ers to identify true fi re survival cables, which are proven to perform to safety standards in real-world scenarios. WMC warns the current regulatory framework allows for inferior cables to be used in safety-critical applications, putting lives and property at risk. In 2023, WMC published a white paper outlining how cables – often an overlooked component of a building’s system – directly impact building safety. The paper advocates for the introduction of a higher classifi cation of fi re survival cable, which can continue to power critical circuits in the event of a fi re.
